Miltiadis Chalkidis
Miltiadis Chalkidis is a Greek musician,multi instrumentalist,songwriter,music producer,radio producer and videographer .Chalkidis is best known for his work as a guitarist and singer,also known as Miltos Marathon and as the creator of “Greek fill” an innovative music style that combines the Greek musical element with the electricity of the contemporary sound and for his distinct voice as a radio producer.
Early life
Miltiadis Chalkidis was born on the 9th of January, 1979, in Larissa Greece.He started showing great interest in music at a very early age and his parents, Konstantinos and Sophie Chalkidis, provided him with his first musical stimuli.[2]
Early musical career
When Miltiadis Chalkidis turned 11 his father gave him guitar lessons.Not long after that, he started writing his first songs, whilst searching for session musicians to form a group .In 1994, he created the “ Marathon” a blues/rock power trio and since 2007 he has recorded 8 independently produced demo/albums with music and lyrics written by Miltiades Chalkidis .The group mostly played in bars,clubs and festivals in Larrisa ,Thessaly and central Greece performing mainly the music of Miltiadis Chalkidis.[3]
Miltos Marathon
In 2008 Miltiadis Chalkidis decided to continue as a solo artist under the name “Miltos Marathon”.That name has a metaphorical meaning and at the same time creates a kind of pun: Miltos, short for the Greek name Miltiadis. Marathon, a long-distance running event.
A more romantic perspective, beyond the literal meaning of these words, will give us a deeper understanding of the “Miltos Marathon” philosophy.
"If life is like a long-distance running race... I'm very pleased that in my case, it is a music marathon!"
The same year he starts to develop his ideas for a new innovative music style that combines the Greek musical element with the electricity of the contemporary sound and a few months later he creates “Greek Fill”.
In 2008 also began the reconstruction of his personal studio so he could record and release his music independently.
Playing style and song writing
Miltiadis Chalkidis' highly emotional approach to guitar playing is greatly influenced by his father, Konstantinos' lessons and guitar playing style.Despite his technical proficiency and mastery of the guitar, he stood out through his phrasing and dynamic control that was also influenced by the Greek music in its entire spectrum, Byzantine music, rebetiko, music from Pontus, classical music, rock, blues and jazz.His distinct tone and song writing skills can be heard in his albums.

"Two match" (album)
"Two match" is the second studio album by Miltos Marathon.The album was released on December 31, 2017 by Miltos Marathon.It was produced, recorded,mixed and mastered by Miltiadis Chalkidis in the Miltos Marathon personal recording studio. The songs included in this album are some of the first lyrics and music compositions created by Miltiades Chalkidis throughout his adolescence.
These compositions created in the mid 90’s, were released that time as a demo entitled “Too much trouble for nothing” and for many were a fine specimen of the musical style of Miltos Marathon back then.Later were characterised by friends and fans as favourite and classic songs of the band.
