Hello,
Hello,

I have posted a link to http://www.v-tarot.com. The site is 100% free and it is designed to help promote the use of tarot for beginners and people who cannot afford a live tarot read or a tarot deck. The deck is not only beautiful, but it is also the world’s first 3D tarot deck entirely based on the original Pictorial Key to Tarot. The site uses Disney Lip-Synch animation techniques, and provides the first and only online tool for Tarot meditation.

I have worked very hard to provide people with this free resource. Every 3D card, every room, every animation, and the programming has been done with my own hands. I dedicated an enormous amount of work and effort to this site and I do not charge a single penny. I do require e-mail registration, but I have not and will not send advertising or unsolicited email. The only reason I request email registration is that I will include functionality so that people can send reads to themselves via e-mail.

So, the question is, why do you keep deleting my link? I wish people would respect my hard work and the right to use this valuable free resource. Soon, I will also allow Tarot readers to add their own links… for free, of course. This site has been around for less than 2 months, and it already has more than 300 frequent users. That means huge bandwidth which I donate out of my own pocket.

Bot is misbehaving. Not sure if it is bad enough to block it for.

It reported vandalism for blocking [1] and apparently never warned the IP in question before it did so. JoshuaZ 03:36, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It has not been warning any anonymous users. For that matter, I am not sure it has warning anyone in a while. I have been ensuring warnings were added to the pages, but since I can't block anyone in this wiki, I have refrain from using those templates. The problem is back. It reverted here without generating any warning. JoshuaZ 03:36, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The bot seems to be not warning anyone again. JoshuaZ 03:57, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ahhhhhh /me will do a script on cron to reset the bot once every 2 hours or so.... it seems to be a time based thing -- Tawker 06:30, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No warnings

Why is AntiVandalBot not writing any warnings to the user talk pages? It would be nice if we human new page patrollers had assistance on this front. There are a number of IP's that I could have reported to WP:AIV had warnings been written to the user pages by the bot.

LittleOldMe 11:53, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

See User Talk:AntiVandalBot#Bot is misbehaving. Not sure if it is bad enough to block it for. Will (Talk - contribs) 06:25, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, it reverted one of my edits [2] without telling me. I thought maybe it didn't leave a warning if there was already one on my talk page, so I tried removing it in the expectation that if it reverted one of my edits again then it would tell me. But it hasn't. And I've just looked at the latest contribs and it's still failing to warn. I call this a malfunction. I've a feeling that this is as bad as not having an anti-vandal bot at all, but can't make up my mind whether to hit the big red button. -- Smjg 17:50, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, should've realised sooner that the emergency shutoff is just a shortcut for admins to block it. I'd thought at first that it was a link to the bot's own shutoff script. -- Smjg 18:36, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Baba (disambuguation)

I moved (or am attempting to move) Baba (disambiguation) to just Baba. Can this bot be fixed to accept that? Power level (Dragon Ball) 16:15, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I moved it, just have the disambiguous page deleted and redirected to Baba. Power level (Dragon Ball) 16:31, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
C&P move fixed, if anyone cares. Kusma (討論) 16:43, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seems to be missing these cases

I was looking through history of Constantine I and noticed that the Bot missed two occasions of someone inserting homophobic vandalism edits into the article—assuming it was running at all. Humans intervened in both cases. This is the second one, the first was a few edits earlier. Hence I thought to suggest you add some keywords like "homo", "homosexual" and whatever to your redflags and criteria. Perhaps an iterim tagging step flagging the file for human perusal is something to consider??? Good luck either way, and good job! Kudos. // FrankB 18:22, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Junkers Ju 252

Antivandalbot reverted my edits to Junkers Ju 252, apparently due to blanking. What I did was removing all text, since it was written in German and replacing it with one English sentence. Have you faced this kind of situations before and would it be possible to hinder this kind of recessive reverts in the future?Julius Sahara 18:36, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anyway, after further attemps I managed to proceed my edits. Julius Sahara 18:52, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, that's the first time I've ever heard of that happening, sort of a freak case. I'm still not sure how we can have it approve of the blanking for select users, it's the whole catch22 thing. Thanks for fixing it :) -- Tawker 13:47, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bob Cornuke

We are asking that all references to Bob Cornuke be removed immediately from this site.

We will give Wikipedia until November 20th to do so

If not further action will be forthcoming

England

This is a bit embarrasing, isn't it? [3] This is another example of two vandals' edits being followed by AntiVandalBot reverting only the later one. Does AntiVandalBot look further back into the edit history that the last edit? Could it? --Stemonitis 20:36, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It could, it will in version (currentversion)+1 -- Tawker 13:44, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Wight and Booker Huffman

I was simply deleting the vandalism that had occured on the page, i thought this was the role of a wikipedian ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Noface1 (talkcontribs) 21:21, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AntiVandalBot apparently missed this edit to Booker Huffman and this edit to Paul Wight. However you also blanked the pages on four occasions: Booker Huffman 1, Booker Huffman 2, Booker Huffman 3 and Paul Wight.
The best way to deal with the problem is to revert the vandalism (see also Wikipedia:Vandalism for more extensive coverage of the subject) or to bring the matter to the attention of an administrator. You can also help out by joining the RC patrol. --Oden 12:06, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I wonder if it's going into an overloading situation which is allowing that kind of vandalism to stay. I'll take a look -- Tawker 13:43, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

cron reset not working

Whatever you did to reset the bot so that it writes user notifications is not working. It is reverting without notifying again.

Cheers

LittleOldMe 13:18, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It reverted my Manhattan change

I had wikified "S.C.U.M. Manifesto" to SCUM Manifesto and you reverted it. It was not vandalism, it was adding the appropriate wikilink. I don't think the bot is 98% correct. Jaysbro 17:39, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see any reverts on any of your edits, diff please. Hey, 1 or 2 out of 5000 reverts a day is still pretty darn good! -- Tawker 21:21, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the strange edit regarding SCUM Manifesto: diff. AVB is the greatest thing since sliced bread! --Oden 09:49, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong revert on The Real World

Hi AntiVandalBot,

You have reverted an edit which was made áfter the edit that vandalized a whole article: it seemed that the anonymous contributor you reverted, was just trying to solve the problem, but did not know how. Because English is not my mother tongue and therefore giving a clear explanation is hard for me, I recommend you to watch User talk:70.237.143.133 and its edit to see what I mean, so you can try to make the software even better (I think it is already quite nice).

Bye, SietskeEN 20:05, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here's the diff, AVB currently has problems handling two vandalizations which happen after each other. --Oden 09:58, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that explains. Thanks for taking notice! SietskeEN 21:31, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

HSL-Zuid

Why was this edited automatically reverted as vandalism? The other lines that I added under the see also section are related, and it is useful for them to appear on the HSL-Zuid article, especially since the High Speed Alliance redirects back to that article. -- 12.106.111.10 23:50, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Handled. Luna Santin 23:51, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

John Christie

I deleted the text on John Christie (producer) as almost all of it was duplicated in the (better informed) page on John Christie (Glyndebourne).

They actually refer to the same person but the connection does not seem to have been recognised. So I suggest that the first page is completely deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.109.184.210 (talkcontribs) 17:39, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(diff). When you have two articles (like John Christie (producer) and John Christie (Glyndebourne)) which cover the same subject the best course of action is to merge them. Blanking one of them (which here might have been done with the best of intentions) is not a good idea, and is sometimes done by vandals. --Oden 09:54, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tsonga entry

The entry to Tsonga had been hijacked by a commercial entry for a bluejeans company. I tried to change it back to its original version, which was a two line disambiguation between Tsonga people and language, but it was reverted to the old, bad content by your bot.

Katie (I do not have a user name yet but you can see my IP in the Tsonga entry if that helps) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.103.176.23 (talkcontribs) 19:07, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AVB apparently reverted back to the jeans company version (diff), which was spam. Fixed it. --Oden 09:54, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong revert on Minnesota Chippewa Tribe

Hello AntiVandalBot, Please have your human check your routine to tweek it a bit and make your function more effective. You have reverted a vandalized page to the version before the vandalization, but that previous version was also a vandalized page. There should be a built-in check to ensure that the version you revert to is the actual version to revert. Otherwise, your routine is very good. Report praises to your programming human. Yeah, it's acting up......... a semi rewrite is in progress..... -- Tawker 21:35, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your revert to nonsense on John Browne, Baron Browne of Madingley didn't go back far enough. roundhouse 20:38, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here's the diff:(diff). AVB, like the rest of us, has problems handling serial vandals (edit 1) (edit 2) (edit 3) (edit 4) (edit 5). --Oden 09:33, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi?

uhh...what did i do again? 67.87.226.190 22:31, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You or another anonymous editor using the same IP address as you vandalized a page on 21 May 2006 (diff) and received a warning on that day (see User talk:67.87.226.190). --Oden 09:24, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

An election was just held; the mayor has changed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drewjube (talkcontribs) 04:35, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just browsed through this talk page, and thought it would be funny if AntiVandalBot could reply to unsigned posts with a polite "What part of 'sign your posts' is it that you don't understand?" Keep up the good work. --PeR 16:40, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One got through the net

this wasn't an ideal revert. Would the first edit in this sequence have been got if the second hadn't been made? Providing this in hope it can be useful in further refinements. Morwen - Talk 16:53, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A tricky mistake by AVB

I'm not sure there's an easy solution for this one, but since you're looking for feedback, I'll offer what I can. Legit blanking to Jacob Fred Jazz Oddessy (misspelled article title) by User:Cobrapete was reverted (and warning left at User talk:Cobrapete) because I'd added a merge-to tag to the article, and made a couple of other tiny edits. I speedied the article, so there's not much for post-mortem, but the details to consider are: the article was less than forty-eight hours old, had been created by the alleged vandal, and had maybe 15 or 20 edits, of which all but four were made by the creator/alleged vandal. That ... might have been enough to clue in a human.

Another thing AVB might have wanted to consider: the article, when blanked, had a merge-to template at the top. I realize that merges usually should be made into redirects, and that cases like this where deletion is justified are the exception, not the rule. But at the very least, maybe AVB should consider creating the redirect when there's a merge-to with a valid target. At least in cases where the blanked article is very new, very short, or has very few edits/editors. (Probably don't want to do it in all cases, since vandals and POV-pushers could learn to take advantage.)

I realize that asking for AVB to recognize edge cases like this may be asking for a lot, but I hope I've at least given you some food for thought. Cheers, Xtifr tälk 00:05, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i dunno

i dont have an account here but i have been sent a ton of messages for editing and vandalizing pages on wikipedia that i haven't touched. why do these people keep sending me messages about vandalism when im not doing anything wrong. ive only edited one page on wikipedia and that was a simple plan page. all i added to the page was that the band was french-canadian instead of just being from canada. that's all i sware to god!!!!!!!!!!!!! please make all this stop!! im getting worried that people are going to start leaving messages that are threatening me, and i dont want that. if you can help me, i promise i'll never edit anything ever again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.188.117.66 (talkcontribs)
