Hi Ferret, |
Hi Ferret, |
||
I was an active editor of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intellivision_Amico page but quit because it appears a user by the name Daltonsatom is connected to the source material and has a vested interest in continuing to keep the page free of critical articles or anything that may make the subject appear unfavorable. Another moderator has been present there but Daltonsatom continues to do what he is doing. |

Mediation
Hello ferret. i don't want to repeat a previous edit war mistake[1]. can you tell us if this edit is correct or not? https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=World_War_II&action=history thank you Grandia01 (talk) 09:57, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
- I roughly agree with Nick D's reverts. Use the talk page to discuss. You're adding the phrase "Empowerment of China" with no context or information on what that even means. China's empowerment comes much later though and not as any immediate result of WWII. -- ferret (talk) 15:17, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
got it. thank you for your clarification and help. Grandia01 (talk) 07:22, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Question about featured articles
Is there only one featured article per day does this mean that only one article can be featured at a time? Or are there other articles, I was looking at todays featured article and J.K Rowling. And I was wondering if it was a mistake, but before I do anything as serious as that I should probably ask an experienced user. SoyokoAnis - talk 20:35, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
- Also, happy late adminship anniversary. SoyokoAnis - talk 20:37, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
- @SoyokoAnis: Featured articles is a quality assessment. There are many many featured articles, with no limit on how many there can be, but the main page only highlights one a day. -- ferret (talk) 20:50, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
- Oh, so like very good or good articles but I guess more of quality? SoyokoAnis - talk 01:52, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- Yes. FA is a level above GA. It does not mean "Featured on the Front Page", but each day, a "Featured Article" is chosen to appear on the front page. -- ferret (talk) 01:54, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- Oh okay, thank you! SoyokoAnis - talk 13:04, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

Possible IP sockpuppetry and harassment by Tkcmgl12
Greetings! Thanks for your tireless admin work...I see at User talk:Tkcmgl12 that you banned this user last year for edit warring and sockpuppetry. Today I got this weird message on my user talk page. Based on the dubious nature of the request and the complaint at Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions/Archive_1136#Advice to protect myself about IP addresses harassing User:Suuuuuuzu, I suspect that these messages from IP users are actually the banned Tkcmgl12. I'm not sure what to do next, like if IP bans are in order or if some sort of checkuser needs to happen to confirm this? Thanks, Beland (talk) 01:46, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Beland: Yes, that sockmaster has been active today. I've blocked 5-6 IPs of them today. -- ferret (talk) 01:47, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
Very strange behaviour
Greetings and all the best in New Year, for a few days now there are unsourced changes in lots of wikipedia articles, some of them were already noticed by admins, it started with this ip [[2]] after few days it continued with this ip [[3]] and today it continued with this ip [[4]],All 3 have the same target articles, the last 2 ip have the similar geolocation, could it be that they are the same person, could you run a quick SPI check ? Thank you. Theonewithreason (talk) 17.January 2022 (UTC)
- @Theonewithreason: Checkusers cannot comment on IPs. Recommend posting to ANI and someone can look at the case and block as needed. -- ferret (talk) 20:44, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. Theonewithreason (talk) 17.January 2022 (UTC)
about MOS:VG
See the "lost ark' article. Why do titles and flags exist on that document? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rocco30 (talk • contribs) 15:38, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Rocco30: I'm already looking at it. It's in violation of MOS as well, and it looks like there may be conflict of interest editing there. -- ferret (talk) 15:39, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
i understand. thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rocco30 (talk • contribs) 15:42, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Rocco30: I've completed cleaning up Lost Ark. There was a lot wrong. -- ferret (talk) 15:53, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
