Mill Creek is a city in Snohomish County, Washington, United States. It is located approximately 20 miles north (NNE) of downtown Seattle. The population was 11,525 at the 2000 census. Mill Creek is a planned community built around a golf course and country club as its centerpiece.

Based on per capita income, one of the more reliable measures of affluence, Mill Creek ranks 19th of 522 areas in the state of Washington to be ranked.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.2 km² (3.6 mi²), all land.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 11,525 people, 4,631 households, and 3,250 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,246.5/km² (3,231.3/mi²). There were 4,769 housing units at an average density of 515.8/km² (1,337.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 81.49% White, 1.41% African American, 0.43% Native American, 12.64% Asian, 0.25% Pacific Islander, 1.12% from other races, and 2.65% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.25% of the population.

There were 4,631 households out of which 32.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.8% were married couples living together, 5.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.8% were non-families. 24.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 2.98.

In the city the population was spread out with 24.3% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 27.1% from 45 to 64, and 11.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 93.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.6 males.

Educational levels within the city stand at 95% High School Graduate or higher (7352), and 47.7% Bachelors Degree or higher (3688).

The median income for a household in the city was $69,702, and the median income for a family was $87,263. Males had a median income of $59,070 versus $39,138 for females. The per capita income for the city was $36,234. About 3.0% of families and 3.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.2% of those under age 18 and 3.6% of those age 65 or over.
