CEVA Logistics - updating intro, history timeline, facts and figures and references

As I understand that updating the CEVA Logistics Wikipedia page is essential to provide accurate, comprehensive, and timely information to a global audience here are my contributions to the discussion. My goal is to ensure that the page remains a valuable resource for anyone seeking to understand the company's history, operations, and impact on the logistics and supply chain sector.

CEVA Logistics is a global logistics and supply chain company that operates both freight management and contract logistics.

It was purchased by the CMA CGM group in 2019. Since this purchase, CMA CGM has acquired other logistics and transportation companies to merge with and develop CEVA Logistics, such as Ingram Micro Commerce & Lifecycle Services and GEFCO.

In 2022, CEVA Logistics was in more than 170 countries, employed 110,000 people at 1,300 sites, and managed 10.3 million square meters across 900 warehouses. CEVA Logistics has a pro forma 2022 revenue of US$18.7 billion.


History

1.Origins

1946

Ken Thomas founded Thomas Nationwide Transport (TNT) in Australia with a single truck. Over the next 50 years, TNT gained a worldwide reputation, particularly in contract logistics.


1984

EGL was created in Houston, Texas, and within 15 years, had become a global force in cargo management, with a presence in more than 100 countries.


1996

TNT was acquired by the Dutch company KPN and was divided into three divisions: Logistics, Express, and Post.


2006

TNT sold its logistics division to Apollo Global management.


2007

TNT Logistics was merged with EGL Eagle Global Logistics, and the new company was named CEVA Logistics (1).


2014

Since 2014, CEVA Logistics has undergone various business transformations until its IPO in 2018.


2018

CEVA Logistics was listed on the SIX Swiss Stock Exchange (2)


2019

August

Acquisition by CMA CGM, a global shipping group, to form a strategic partnership to offer end-to-end solutions to their partners. CEVA Logistics became a fully-owned subsidiary of CMA CGM (3).

July

CEVA Logistics unveiled its new logo and brand identity.

October

CMA CGM’s cargo management activities (including CClog, LCL Logistix, ANL Log) and USL cargo services (CClog) fell under the aegis of CEVA. CEVA is delisted from the SIX Swiss Exchange.

November

Inauguration of CEVA Logistics new headquarters in Marseille (4).


2020

January

Mathieu Friedberg was appointed CEO of CEVA Logistics.

June

CEVA Logistics acquires AMI Worldwide, a reference logistics solutions provider in Africa, offering mainly connections with India, the Middle East, and China.


2021

June

Gartner positions CEVA Logistics in the Leaders corner of the 2021 Magic Quadrant Third-Party Logistics Worldwide.


2022

April

CEVA Logistics has completed the acquisition of most of the Ingram Micro Commerce & Lifecycle Services (CLS) business and leading last mile provider Colis Privé.

July

CEVA Logistics has completed the acquisition of GEFCO and continues Africa expansion with the Spedag Interfreight acquisition.


2. Purchase by CMA CGM and developments

In March 2019, CEVA Logistics was acquired by the French group CMA CGM (3), the world's third-largest container transportation and shipping company, to complete its service range with activities in logistics.

Since then, CMA CGM has purchased other logistics and transportation companies to merge them with CEVA Logistics: on December 8th, 2021, it confirmed the acquisition of Ingram Micro Commerce & Lifecycle Services (5), a US-based specialist in contract logistics and e-commerce.

In 2022, CMA CGM bought Colis Privé (6) to strengthen CEVA Logistics in last-mile kilometer delivery and GEFCO (7 and 8), a European leader in the automotive logistics market.

CEVA Logistics operates in the following areas: air freight, ocean freight, ground freight, and contract logistics.

It's clients come from various sectors, including automotive, healthcare, consumer & retail, eCommerce, technology, energy, trade show logistics, and industrial & aerospace.


4. Partnership with Scuderia Ferrari

In  2022, CEVA Logistics announced the partnership with Ferrari as the official logistics partner (9), providing logistics support services for the Scuderia Ferrari cars and equipment for Grand Prix events, GT racing series, and other Ferrari Challenge events.
