Creator, frontman, vocalist, and bassist Petar Martich is of Serbian descent. He moved to Russia at the age of nine. He later received a university education in England, but returned returned to Russia shortly after. As a part of the group Prigay Kiska (Rus. Прыгай киска) he wrote tracks which gained wide popularity in 2014 on the social network VK. The tracks "Kak zhe ya goryach" and "Ryan Gosling" in particular elevated Petar to internet stardom.[1]
The other members of the group consist of guitarist Kirill Gorodniy and drummer Grigoriy Drach. Kirill and Petar first met in the fifth grade and they worked together for some time before founding the group Pasosh. Kirill worked as the DJ for the group Prigay Kiska and then as guitarist for Pasosh. Grigoriy graduated from music school specializing in piano. However, as a part of Pasosh, he served as the drummer.
History
During the summer of 2013 Petar Martich and Kirill Gorodniy decided to form a band. At that time, they did not know what it would be called. At home, Petar always had his Serbian passport lying nearby on his nightstand. Pasosh (Serbian: пасош) denotes passport in Serbian. Kirill liked this word a lot and he suggested that they call their band Pasosh until they could come up with another name. All summer, Petar and Kirill wrote songs and played them for themselves and their friends. They also made recordings and planned to record a full album. They managed to collect a solid amount of raw material, but it still was not ready for release. The summer ended, and Petar needed to return to university in England. In the end, the group didn't manage to record anything complete. However, one of the days before departing, Petar recorded four new songs, and wanted to post them on the internet. The only thing that remained was to think of a name. At that time, there was a song called "Prigay Kiska," and seeing that Pasosh no longer existed, Petar showed interest in the name and decided to to use it.
In the spring of 2014 Petar was recording for the group Prigay Kiska on his laptop and decided to combine these songs with the demos made for the group Pasosh. That summer, these songs were released to the public. In the end, these songs from Prigay Kiska and Pasosh became Pasosh's the first album.
When Petar graduated from university, he moved back to Moscow and involved himself again with the group Prigay Kiska, which by that time had become quite popular. Upon moving, Kirill joined Petar in producing some of the tracks for Prigay Kiska. In the period from June to Novemeber of 2014, Petar and Kirill actively put out new material as Prigay Kiska. On the November 20th, 2014 after their final concert in the club Shokoladnaya Fabrika (Russian: Шоколодная фабрика) Prigay Kiska officially ceased to exist (although it would later return in 2022). Petar and Kirill then began to actively rehearse with the drummer Grigoriy Drach. In only a couple of months they managed to write a number of songs.
Pasosh's debut album Nam nikogda ne budet skuchno (Russian: Нам никогда не будет скучно, lit. 'We will never be bored') was released in 2015. The album sounded purely like a DIY project. The sound was was raw and similar to garage-rock. However, this sound was deliberate. The album was in accordance with the canon of punk rock and was close to underground and old-school emo. All of the lyrics were written in Russian, with the exception of the song "Drake" (Russian: дрейк), where the first verse is sung in English.
In contrast to their rather simple first album. Pasosh's second album 21, released in March of 2016, was more grown-up. The album was recorded over the course of about six months, just like the first album. The recording process was complicated by the fact that Pasosh now had concert activities to attend to. In the beginning of 2016 Pasosh held a few small tours, and in autumn of 2016, a much larger tour of 20 cities. Apart from touring, the group also performed at the festivals Bol' (Russian: Боль, lit. 'Pain'), Motherland, and others.[1][2]
In 2016 the group was nominated for the award of Rock Artist of the Year at the Jagermeister Indie Awards, but did not receive it. The award instead went to the group Glintshake.
On September 14th 2017 the group released their third studio album Kazhdiy raz samiy vazhniy raz (Russian: Каждый раз самый важный раз, lit. 'Every time is the most important time').
At the start of 2019 Pasosh released their fourth album Bessrochniy otpusk (Russian: Бессрочный отпуск, lit. 'Indefinite leave').
On March 23rd 2021 the group suspended their activity after accusations of abuse were levied against the frontman Petar Martich. The drummer Giorgiy Drach wrote on Instagram,
Concerning the group Pasosh. All of the important decisions we always made as a trio. Either everyone is in favor, or nothing happens. Until this agreement is reached, the group will cease its activity.
