Revision as of 10:52, 24 May 2024
My main goal is to write my first Good Article. I'm rather embarrassed it's taken me this long! Hopefully I will make some strides toward a submission before May rolls around.
All the things I will definitely, for sure, 100% get around to very soon.

- Bryant Park#1930s restoration -- At some point I would love to make a separate article about the 1932 "George Washington Bi-Centennial Celebration Commission", a cash grab that was a total disaster. NYC removed two statues from Bryant Park for a temporary exhibition: a flimsy plaster reproduction of Federal Hall (where Washington was inaugurated) and charged people to view it, and when no one wanted to see it, they resorted to showing Mickey Mouse cartoons (apparently called "patriotic movies") and then Italian opera. They couldn't pay to demolish it, so it eventually crumbled. They didn't replace the statues because they somehow lost them (later they were found under a bridge). There's a page about it on page 333 of The Power Broker! For now, User:Crunchydillpickle/sandbox/George Washington Bi-Centennial Celebration Commission
