Homixide Gang is an American hip hop duo composed of the rappers Homixide Beno! and Homixide Meechie.[1] Formed in 2019, the duo independently released their debut EP, Snotty World, and its deluxe edition (both 2021) before signing to Playboi Carti's Opium record label the following year. Their major label debut, Homixide Lifestyle (2022), peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Their second album, Snot or Not (2023), also peaked at number 16 on the Heatseekers chart; it was followed by the release of the projects 5th Amndmnt (2023) and I5u5we5 (2024).

Formation

Keyon Thomas and Demetrius Chatman, known as Homixide Beno! and Homixide Meechie respectively[2], are allegedly members of the East Atlanta Homixide street gang, due to the shared "Homixide" moniker that all members identify by. In an interview, both Thomas and Chatman state that they have been longtime friends with labelhead, Playboi Carti, having "been around".[3] Carti revealed that he has been well acquainted with the duo for "last three years".[1]

Musical style

Homixide Gang share a similar style with their fellow labelmates, Ken Carson and Destroy Lonely. However, their presence as a duo allows them to deliver two unique vocal sounds. Typically, Homixide Beno! will deliver the chorus of the song, while Homixide Meechie will deliver the verse(s). Their production is heavily inspired by Playboi Carti's christmas album, Whole Lotta Red, particularly songs where F1lthy and Lil Slatt were the producers.[4]
