In literature it does not seem that gametophore is the accepted terminology for what this page is describing. Rather, in Marchantia this seems to be the 'gametangiophore' <ref>https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35976122/</ref><ref>https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26116421/</ref>. In Physcomitrella mosses, the plants transition from protonema/caulonema to gametophore<ref>https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29395927/</ref> - this seems to be an acceptable use of the term. The current hook sentence is the breakdown of the word ‘gametophore.’ To reflect the topic, the first sentence should best convey the topic, rather than etymology. Renaming page to "Gametangiophore"?

In literature it does not seem that gametophore is the accepted terminology for what this page is describing. Rather, in Marchantia this seems to be the 'gametangiophore' [1][2]. In Physcomitrella mosses, the plants transition from protonema/caulonema to gametophore[3] - this seems to be an acceptable use of the term. Frunk10 (talk) 10:41, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
