The Graphics Lab is a project to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. Requests for image improvements can be added to the workshop pages: Illustrations, Photographs and Maps. For questions or suggestions one can use the talk pages: Talk:Graphics Lab, Talk:Illustrations, Talk:Photographs and Talk:Maps.
This specific page is the requests page for the photography workshop. Anyone can make a request for a photograph to be improved for a Wikipedia article. The standard format for making a request is shown below, along with general advice, and should be followed.

Advice to requesters

All requests:

  • Please make sure your request is "legitimate" by copyright. If the image(s) are in the public domain or freely licensed, you are fine. If the image(s) are "Fair use", there are only certain things we can do with them without falling afoul of Wikipedia's fair-use policies.
    • If you are requesting assistance with a copyright or fair-use image, don't display it on this page; place {{GLNF|Example.png|caption|align=left}} to create a link to it. Do not add the File: extension. Our fair-use policy does not allow displaying fair-use images out of their articles on ANY account.
  • Please check back regularly to see if progress has been made or if any additional questions need to be answered before the request can be completed.
  • If a request is done to your satisfaction, please mark it with {{resolved}}.

SVG requests:

  • Make sure your request can actually BE vectorized. Note that vector drawings are not suitable for certain applications. We generally use SVG format for icons, logos, drawings, maps, flags, and such. Certain things, photographs especially, are totally impossible to vectorize.
  • Per our non-free content policy, vectorization of copyrighted images is not permitted. If a vectorized non-free image is desired, seek out such an image from the copyright holder.

Forrest's jail

Could someone possibly mark a building on this 1870s bird's eye view map in a way that's classier than me scribbling on it with the pencil tool on my phone? LOL

This is for Nathan Bedford Forrest, John N. Forrest, Forrest's jail, etc. I'm trying to mark the building(s) on Adams between Second and Third behind the church.

Original:

My low-res chicken scratch version. I am in no way attached to this zoom or crop, pointer color, style, anything, this was just me improvising; you all have much much better artistic/design judgment than me.

87 and 89 Adams (street had been numbered in the meantime; historical marker is in parking lot behind church)

I just want to give people a sense that it was a real place in busy city and/or give them some sense of the geography in relation to the Mississippi River boat landings.

Thank you in advance for your artistry! jengod (talk) 02:11, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
