And so you are telling me, for 3 or so years (can't see thehistory it is deleted) wikipedia was wrong for including it?

Can you explain to my why portalofevil.com was in wikipedia for so many years? Why sites like fatchicksinpartyhates.com and somethingawful.com remain? You are telling me you cannot look on the history for that page before the deletion and see why it was included so many years ago? Or that history no longer is history according to wikipedia because the only history that counts is that which does not bother its members and editors? What happens when you get older? Do we delete all your entries because they are no longer relevant? In your case, you are stating - history doesn't grow, it gets deleted?

East Hills Line Photo

The train is on the tracks closest to the taker, which are the East Hills Line tracks. If you want to replace it with a better image, by all means go ahead, but I'd rather have that one than none at all. JRG 04:39, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think you might be right - I'm sorry - I didn't realise that. Tempe is on the left of the photo, so it looks like it is an Illawarra Line train after all. It still shows the East Hills Line tracks though, but it's ok to replace it with something else. JRG 13:07, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Editing a person's name

Hi Enochlau, just a quick note to seek your help. An unregistered user keeps editing the Lillian Too page, changing her name to what appears to be her full Chinese name. However, as the person who started this article and did a lot of research on this topic, I cannot find any sources for this name. As this is a major edit, and if left as it is, may become an incorrect sorce of information for a lot of people. What do you think should be done? Thanks. -- S Masters 16:23, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uni flying club

Yup - at first it looked like something for the bin - will try to check a few bits of info that might be relevant for notability - otherwise I have no problem abut it going - cheers SatuSuro 14:12, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey its gone already - thanks for the pointer re uni clubs and notability - cheers SatuSuro 06:53, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. enochlau (talk) 06:57, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What are you doing?

Why did you delete my article under criteria "nn bio"? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by General reeves (talkcontribs) 06:49, 28 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

"nn bio" means non-notable biography. See WP:CSD. enochlau (talk) 06:50, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So what? Why is it not notable?

Ground Level Deletion Question

Hi Enochlau,

I was trying to start an article for one of my favourite bands and noticed that you had already deleted it without a reason listed?

Would you please clarify what I did wrong, as I was just getting into the process and was not by any means finished?

The band I was listing was " Ground Level" .

Thank you for your feedback.

Wow! I don't think he's an impostor, no-one would go to the trouble. Looks like Ghena got some of the facts wrong. Though that's probably due to inaccuracy in the case law. Hmm... Kewpid 04:25, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

API / query.php

Hi Enoch,

Just a quick follow up from last week's wiki meetup - you mentioned query.php, maybe have a quick look at the new API provided by api.php. I'm not sure exactly what the differences are, but perhaps the newer one has some extra stuff that may be useful to you with the duplicate-image bot you mentioned.

I'd like to get Forbidden City to GA status. Can you take a look and see what needs to be improved? Thanks, --Sumple (Talk) 07:32, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since you were involved somewhat in the first round via your speedydeletion of related articles, you might want to get a word in at the second round as well: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Simon Higgs. --Dynaflow 19:17, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Page deletion: The Guide To Selling Your Music In The iTunes Music Store

I'm contesting the deletion of a page about a book entitled The Guide To Selling Your Music In The iTunes Music Store. It was incorrectly tagged for speedy deletion by Dynaflow, who has now vandalized every page created by this account (this will also be addressed too). Wikipedia lists the following criteria for speedy deletion to include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Advertising or other spam without relevant content (but not an article about an advertising related subject)

However, the book in question is specifically about sales and advertising. By definition it has relevant content related to sales and advertising and is not considered spam according to Wikipedia's own guidelines. particle 08:30, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Given the existence of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Simon Higgs, I'm not in a position to agree with you at the moment. If you wish to dispute the deletion, go to WP:DRV. enochlau (talk) 12:34, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has asked for a deletion review of The Guide To Selling Your Music In The iTunes Music Store. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. particle 16:05, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fort Street High School

This article has remained fully protected for nearly two years now. I don't know, but I think the vandals have gone away! Care to open it up again so this page can get a bit of attention? 58.178.43.12 15:21, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Update

Hey, thanks for the call. I've posted my reply and decided to take a break. This really disappointed me. I had expected some kind of rational discussion, even if it rebuked my behaviour. Anyway, talk to you in RL. --Sumple (Talk) 05:47, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Curious about the deletion of portalofevil.com

Site has been in wikipedia for a long, long time - are you a furry? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cheznoir (talkcontribs) 02:21, 13 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

The article made no assertion of notability, and hence it qualified for speedy deletion. If you wish to contest the deletion, go to WP:DRV. enochlau (talk) 02:45, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion? It existed for years and was deleted by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Lee_M

Who is Lee M? http://friends.portalofevil.com/fshow.php?si=3&userid=10410

And check his posts, he deleted the page shortly after he got in a hissy fight.

POE is well known and historically significant for its place in alternative directories/searches. Considering sites that came later and were helped by poe like somethingawful.com etc still exist in the wiki, but you remove the source? That just shows how silly wikipedia is, it ignores the part of culture it was born from and emboldens childish behavoir such as Lee_m and yours. You have zero knowledge in the field, lee_m deleted it bases on a personal fight on poe's forums and you are going to tell me now that was a valid reason for the deletion? What a joke.

Seriously, you should think before you act next. You are supposed to be acting for wikipedia, not for statue fetishists who have personal vendettas against sites. So are you man enough to leave in an entry that has offended your friend or do you delete it and expose wikipedia for the geek highschool it currently is?

Didn't I delete it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Undelete/Portal_of_Evil - being an encyclopedia, Wikipedia must maintain high standards of inclusion, and as it stood when it was deleted, the article did not meet our notability guidelines. enochlau (talk) 03:30, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
