Why did you revert? [1] It has been discussed on the article's talk page. enochlau (talk) 00:36, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
- I apologize. You did mention the change was in accordance with the talk page. I must have missed that comment in your edit summary. joturner 01:31, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi Admin (lol)
[edit]Im writing in regards to the external links of Ella Koon's page. You said my forum is not suitable as it only contains 5 posts. Please check the statitics as we do have more than 5 posts. This forum is still new. I have no intention to make my board known using Wikipedia but I thought it would be appropriate to add an external link here so fans of Ella Koon's can access the forum. If you one day feel that this forum is suitable, please add it to Ella Koon's page. There are fans out there who are looking for a great English Forum dedicated to Ella. Link to Forum: http://s14.invisionfree.com/Sweet_Ella/
Thanks

- Fine, it has 5 threads and 24 posts, and you said it yourself, it's new. From Wikipedia:External links:
- "Fan sites: On articles about topics with many fansites, including a link to one major fansite is appropriate, marking the link as such. In extreme cases, a link to a web directory of fansites can replace this link."
- I can't say with a straight face that your site is a major fansite. Cheers. enochlau (talk) 01:07, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know. It is the ONLY english forum dedicated to Ella at the moment. If you decide to add it when it becomes 'major' and recognised, free feel to. Thanks!
- Sure. Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. enochlau (talk) 08:26, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

James Cole
[edit]Enochlau, please read in regard to the deletion of article 'James Cole':
The article made claims that were completely unsubstantiated and possibly false. For instance, a google search of "James Cole" + the titles of the books he supposedly wrote reveals no results. Thus, even if the article was not a re-creation of a previously deleted vanity article, the article at least made false claims about the person's notability. Finally, the claim that Nigerian rebels (or whoever it was, i don't recall what the article said) were somehow after this person, leading to the downing of an airplane (and his somehow miraculous escape) further tend to cast doubt on the credibility of the article (I'm not seeing any news items on the subject). I recommend that if you wish to write about Mr. Cole, you do so on your userpage. - Jersyko talk 15:42, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Jersyko - I think you may have misread the article. Any claims that were unsubstantiated were clearly marked as such, "believed to have been" aboard the flight, "rumours" of MEND involvement, "reports of sightings" in Quito. Claims stated as fact either were, or were soon to be, backed up with citations. Furthermore, it was never stated that his works were books; they were articles written during university tenure, and I was in the process of locating them to include excerpts in the article. Further still, there was no mention of a "miraculous escape" - the article simply mentioned that his body was not recovered from the wreckage. According to best information he was going to be on that plane, yet Sosoliso will not provide a passenger manifest or confirm if he was indeed onboard. Even more disturbing is your cursory fact checking which consists of simply running his name and titles of work through Google, and having no results be sufficient evidence for you. Do you fact check every article this thoroughly? I should think this would call into question many arbitrary decisions you have made in the past. I highly doubt you have access to the same newswires we are receiving our information from, and your subtle insinuation that I am Cole removes further credibility from your response. -pa

Geraldo "Kid Gavilan" Gonzalez
[edit]I was doing a crossword puzzle that refered to Kid Gavilan and found that he was not in the wikipedia, so I decided to add him. I did a little research online to find out his basic stats and threw together a paragraph.
My question is about why my signature was removed from the article. It's a silly little thing that I'm not worried about, but I was wondering why.
I wrote it, why can't I leave it signed and dated?
Thanks for getting back to me on this one.

The rollback button
[edit]Hi Enochlau. I have a comment about this edit you made. I believe that was a typical example when one should not use the admin rollback tool, but rather revert the old-fashioned way, and with an edit summary. I believe Mikka's edit was in good faith, the category he put the article in was sound, and everything was OK. Thus, you owe Mikka, and everybody who has that article on the watchlist, an explanation for why you reverted the edit.
That explanation can go on the article talk page, but even better, the most appropriate place is the edit summary. In short, also per the new Wikipedia:Administrator Code of Conduct, I would like to ask you to not use the rollback button when an edit summary is necessary. Also note that Mikka is an old wolf, but people may also take offence at being reverted with the vandal tool, if their edit was in good faith.
Wonder what you think, you can reply here, I will keep your page on my watchlist. Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 02:04, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit]If you just have a statement that should go on the evidence talk page if you have actual evidence (in the form of diffs usually) that can go on the evidence page. As to whether that is welcome or not, sure it is, just keep it constructive and brief, more likely to be considered then. --Wgfinley 05:44, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Article Revision
[edit]Greetings, Administrator. I recently noticed you made a partial revert to my edit on the article MapleStory. If I may, I'd like to point out my reasoning for such edits.
Firstly, I felt as though the words "World" and "Classes" should be capitalized because, for one, they're both headers, and, they're both important aspects of the game (World being the entire world, and Classes being what every character is divided up into).
Secondly, the phrase "Cash Shop" is referred to, and written as such, making it a proper noun for the game. Case in point.
Lastly, the sections within the "Game issues" section should become their own headers to make it more easily accessible, rather than having to scroll for each particular one (as there is a lot of text in that section).
Please reply (whether it be here or in my User Talk page), so that we may resolve such issues. --Antoshi 00:13, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Hello. I just looked at this page and you seem to be an admin who has been there a bit. Is the population of the suburb of Bankstown really 170,000? I'm not from Sydney, and don't know how big Bansktown geographically, but even if it is maybe 10km^2, it seems pretty big. Blnguyen 00:46, 1 February 2006 (UTC).

Formatting "External links"
[edit]Hi there, I notice you recently changed a page i did (this one) to move the "External links" section up a level (from three = to two =) - is this a general standard thing? I started doing them this way (with two =), but someone changed one down to three so I assumed that was right, from the layout thing it looks like this is the right way too, so I changed the ones where I'd used two down to three and did the rest that way too; I've done thirty or so of these, wouldn't really want to go through and tweak all of them but would be nice if they were all in a fairly standardised layout... - I went to that website. Talk about hypocrisy. They are against student organisations, so they start up something called the "Independent Student's Association"? It's like "The Anarchy Party" or something.

Template:Google
[edit]Kindly undelete my version of {{google}} since A) I created it without reference to any previous versions (so it is not a recreation), B) unlike previous versions I have been using it in talk page discussions (rather than spamming it into the external links sections of articles, which is why the previous versions were deleted) and C) we already have tons of well accepted external link templates. Hello, further to your statement on the article discussion page, are you advising me to clean out the category NOW so that you can delete it NOW ? If so, I don't mind doing it, but I have a feeling if I clean out the category NOW and it sits there for discussion, the creator is going to put the cat tags back on the articles. Please respond at the article discussion page and I will follow your instructions. Cordially SirIsaacBrock 20:00, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Reverting Page Move
[edit]Hi there, I noticed that you reverted my page move for Simp. Chinese character_s_. Would you consider moving it back? Notice that in the article the initial bolded phrase (normally for the page title) is for the plural form and also that the naming conventions do have a note for exceptions to the singular rule. Instantnood Block
[edit]If you, or others, are willing to put together a mentorship program for him (which, I will say is a very good idea and may save him from the rope with Arbcom) I will consider removing the block. I only want the best for him and I see your point on some of the edits, what he needs to realize is that HE is not the best person to be doing that right now. I would think a group of HK Wikipedians would be the best folks to help him out with this. I would like nothing better than to see him continue to contribute. --Wgfinley 00:51, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- I am a tad curious as to why you would need a "group of HK Wikipedians" to assist him. Do you need individuals from a certain locality to get someone to "behave"? Is this a behavorial or content issue at hand?--Huaiwei 12:01, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- Ultimately it's up to Instantnood, but I suspect that he might be more accommodating to the thought of having HK Wikipedian mentors. It's not a matter of bias - just that if you were to be mentored, it's much better to be mentored by people you identify with more. I'll try and work something out when I get some time. enochlau (talk) 13:12, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- Unless you are suggesting only fellow HKers can get a HKer to behave, I see hardly any feasible reasoning to claim someone would feel greater "comfort" and "respond better" in the hands of people from the same locality. If you are thinking instantnood is probably more comfortable with this arrangement, than perhaps it does speak something about a core "problem" with his mentality and a possible insight into why he behaves negatively in wikipedia.--Huaiwei 15:49, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- I think your suggestions here are ridiculous. As you are not one who thinks well of Instantnood, I suggest you refrain from making broad, unsupported statements before we have a chance to formulate any ideas and before he has a chance to comment. enochlau (talk) 15:49, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- My "suggestions" are direct inferences from your statements. If they are ridiculous, tell me why so. I find certain parts of your proposal equally ridiculous, if not more so, and I am simply putting that point across to you. I dont see where these "broad, unsupported statements" are, when I am simply asking you some questions and not making a single definitive description on the situation at hand. You appear to pre-empt my thinking and actions. The statement "you are not one who thinks well of Instantnood" is particularly intriguing. Could you explain its relevance to this situation here?--Huaiwei 13:16, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Page deletion
[edit]Based on a question at the Reference Desk by 80.90.37.86, (Wikipedia:Reference desk/Miscellaneous#Phaistos Disk), I am following up as to why the Talk:Phaistos Disc/Archive2 page was deleted. It was tagged with DB by User:Kadmos and the reason given was "The only editor of this page accidentally created it and requests its deletion". However, I believe that this was a bad faith request on his part as he was not the only editor of the page. If you look at User talk:Kadmos you will see that he had already been asked by NSLE as to why he had removed content from the talk page instead of archiving it. I have only scanned through the deleted page but it appears that there is some complaints about Kadmos, such as "Before "Kadmos" came in, peace had been established...". Now I realize that I could well be taking the comments out of context but there seems to be a conflict between User 80.90.XX.XXX range and Kadmos. I realize that I could undelete the page myself but I don't think starting a wheel war is a great idea. So, can you review and see if the page should be undeleted.
I will also be contacting User:HorsePunchKid as to Talk:Phaistos Disc/Archive1 but I notice he has not edited since January 23. I will leave a message on his talk page and email him. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 14:59, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- I would not have noticed except for the question on the reference desk. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 15:54, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- It's the talk page. It was not written to be published from my side. It was written to talk! Everything on the talk page can be found via google! I didn't want that a simple discussion will be archived for the next 1000 years. Did I have at least the right to delete only my words? In this case nobody will understand what the page is talking about. Kadmos 18:27, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- Discussion should always be archived because clearly there was an issue with the article, and this issue may come up in the future. Discussion is there to help future editors. No, you don't have a right to delete this page because it contains the words of other people too. enochlau (talk) 08:01, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response.
- I understand that even as one of the editors I was wrong by deleting the whole discussion. But my question here was, is there any rule saying that the editor lost his right to delete his own words by posting to a talk page? Kadmos 12:06, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
