Big Break

From modeling on billboards to being cast as an extra in such shows as Berks and Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan, Hero tried everything he could to be of help to his struggling family, which underwent one financial trial after another over the course of his young life.

A naturally shy and reserved loner, a frustrated Hero took it upon himself to provide financial support for his parents despite being busy with schoolwork for his Fine Arts degree in UP. This path finally led him to audition for ABS-CBN's Star Circle Quest , but neither Hero nor his parents knew the extent of the success Hero's gamble would bring to both him and his family.

Hero Ángeles bested four other contestants in the Grand Finals for the title "Grand Questor" in the first season of ABS-CBN's reality star search in the Philippines, Star Circle Quest(SCQ).

Filmography

He has appeared in two films. The first, Bcuz of U, is a trilogy with Heart Evangelista and Geoff Eigenmann, Kristine Hermosa and Diether Ocampo, and Sandara Park (his love interest); in the second, Can This Be Love directed by Jose Javier Reyes, he also co-stars with Park. Both performers also starred in the TV series Krystala.

Controversial Downfall

After a controversial dispute with a TV reporter Cristy Fermin, his co-star Sandara Park, and ABS-CBN, he attempted to transfer to rival channel, GMA Network. However, while negotiations for his transfer were still in process, his acting career was mysteriously nipped in the bud. There were suspicions that there was a grand conspiracy in "killing" his career, before ABS-CBN lost its credibility for failing to protect its own talents and for losing a potential big earner to a rival station.

It was always speculated that it is the brother-manager Henry Angeles who was the cause of the breakdown of Hero's career but the real main reason is a business dispute over Talent Center or Star Magic head Mr. Johnny Manahan. Although, no words were heard from the brothers but series of harassments were proven by the brothers on national TV, print and radio so they asked for a release of management contract. Some media people honored Hero for his principles.

Hero and Henry led the series of contract releases of talents from Star Magic (Talent Center. They had provided the voice which almost everyone there were too afraid to give out.

For his fans, the use of Hero's name was said to be over when ABS-CBN launched it's newest TV Channel, HERO, an animation show channel, but ABS-CBN has not release any statement regarding these allegations.

Hero is currently out of the show business and is concentrating on his college studies at the University of the Philippines in Diliman and enhancing his acting abilities. Hero has just launched his first directorial job, STOCKROOM blending modern scares with social issues on employment of language teachers in the Philippines. It is a special project for Hero for just using his own mini-DV camera under a very low budget to be able to produce a film that's friendly for the tastes of the public. He addresses his motive that students and people like him who have a vision should not be scared to do a film under a very low budget. He sends his film abroad for international filmfests and had received a good applause from followers, media and friends through the recently concluded premier nite at Robinson's Galleria Indie Sine, last May 1, 2007 - attracting more publicities since it gained success surprisingly even during the launching of Spiderman 3's regular showing in the country.

A Comeback?

Very recently, Hero is being seen more and more on television (on GMA Network). He has been guesting in shows like Startalk, Sis, Showbiz Stripped and Master Showman among others.
