Otep

OTEP is a nu metal band formed in 2000 in Los Angeles, California.

Band history

OTEP consists of four members: vocalist Otep Shamaya, guitarist Aaron Nordstrom, drummer Brian Wolff, and bassist "Evil" J. McGuire of which make the current lineup. Their second album, House of Secrets, produced by Greg Wells in Los Angeles at Rocket Carousel Studios, was released July 27, 2004. OTEP has performed at Ozzfest in 2001, 2002 and 2004.

The band formed in the fall of 2000 in California. After performing area shows, Sharon Osbourne saw the band and was impressed enough to offer OTEP a spot for the Ozzfest 2001 tour. During this time, the band was unsigned, but had several showcases for labels lined up. Capitol Records was intrigued by OTEP and asked them to perform another showcase and soon was signed with them. Their first album for Capitol was 2002's Sevas Tra.

For their second album, House of Secrets, the band decided to hire producer Greg Wells, who recently worked with The Deftones.

In November 2006, OTEP began a North American tour to promote their new album, titled "The Ascension."

On May of 2007, OTEP Announced the bands departure with Capitol records music group. The band supported the Static-X Tour which ended June 13, 2007, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Otep states, "We have reached an agreement with the incoming regime over at the newly formed Capitol Records Music Group and we are now, joyously, thankfully, free agents."

Currently the upcoming album still remains unreleased. The front-woman states, "Our beautiful album remains unreleased but that is to be remedied very soon."

The track "March of The Martyrs" was released via internet on the bands music player on their official MySpace page[citation needed].
