Shankar is a very popular South-Indian Tamil film director, credited with delivering action movies and technically brillant movies.
His career began with the film Gentleman (1993), which became very successful. His films are famous for soundtrack music, almost all composed by A.R.Rahman.
Shankar's movies include Kadhalan, Indian which was hit in Tamil as well as in Hindi, when it was dubbed as Hindustani, Jeans, Muthalvan and Boys.
His project Anniyan has featured most cameras used for a shot in indian cinema. His previous films Nayak and Boys was also holding the earlier record with Main Hoon Na.
He has credits as a producer in movies like Muthalvan and Kadhal. (He is also credited as S.S.K.Shanker and just Shanker or Shankar.)
