Buyeo County

Template:Infobox Korean settlement Buyeo County (Buyeo-gun) is a county in South Chungcheong Province, South Korea. Buyeo-eup, the county's capital, was the site of the capital of the Baekje kingdom from AD 538 to 660, when it was called Sabi.

Famous people associated with Buyeo County in more recent times include noted stem-cell researcher Hwang Woo Suk.

Geography

Buyeo is located at the southern area of Chungcheongnam-do the heart of the Korean peninsula, and has the same latitude as Haulbin, Windam and the same longitude as Tokyo.

In the era of Baejae, the reason why the royal moved here is because of narrowness of former capital. However, they started to construct fortress called Garimseong for defending new capital.

Climate

Mid-located region of Korea has mild weather with an annunal average temperature of 12.4 ˚C. The average temperature is 0.4 ˚C in winter season and 24.6 ˚C in summer. The annual average precipitiation is 1388.4 mm.

Baekje Cultural Festival

Buyeo county has held cultrual festival featuring ancient Baekje's history which was bloomed in Buyeo and its neighborhood area since 1955 by residents themselves. From 1965, province officially announced to take place Baekje cultrual memmorial. It was

Main events of festival include memmorial as ancient history showing traditional constumes and marching. That concerns specially for the great work of 6 Kings of Sabi era and to applaud the loyalty of 3 loyal subjects. This festival was appointed as one of the national best festivals in 2007.
