Revision as of 02:51, 6 March 2008

The article Guerillla Marketing Talk Radio has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 18:17, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Guerilla Marketing Talk Radio, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. User:Kesh Im sorry Im making so many mistakes I was thrown to the wolves so to speak with this project with time restraints. I need help with th above article I have a copy if u need 2 reference it Henslee57 (talk) 22:34, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure why you would have time constraints on this article? The reason I tagged it for deletion is that the article read like an advertisement for the radio programming. Wikipedia is not an advertising service. If you think the subject is notable enough for an article, I'd suggest requesting it be made at WP:RA, or create a copy at User:Henslee57/Sandbox and ask some editors to look at it. Keep in mind that any facts should come from verifiable third-party sources, not sources created by people involved in the radio program. -- Kesh (talk) 23:22, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NEED HELP WRITING ACCEPTABLE ARTICLE I feel a dummy I cant figure this out fast enoughHenslee57 (talk) 00:27, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved the article to your userpage so you can edit it there (so it won't disrupt conversations on this page). Hope you don't mind.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions|Guest) 00:30, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Henslee. First off, here's my boilerplate response so I don't have to retype all the links - I've posted a more detailed response specific to you below:
The pages at Help:Starting a new page and Wikipedia:Your first article should have most of the information you need. Before you begin, please carefully read through our policies and guidelines on notability, citing reliable sources for verification, neutrality, and formatting and article layout, where many new users commonly make mistakes. You may also want to consider checking out what Wikipedia is not, the deletion policy and criteria for speedy deletion so you know specifically what to avoid when writing your article. I hope this helps.
Now, then. Looking at your article specifically, the tone of the article makes it sound rather promotional, which appears to be why it was deleted previously. Wikipedia does not accept advertising of any kind. If you can re-write the article you have to make it have a more neutral point of view, that should help that aspect. Also, you need to include more references from sources that are not related to the subject. If you have a news article somewhere about this group, then please include it. The main requirement for notability is that there are multiple reliable third-party sources that can attest to the importance of the subject. If any of this isn't clear, or you still have questions, please feel free to put up another helpme template. Happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 00:42, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can you be more specific on what you need help with, and please do not copy and paste the whole thing on my talkpage as it gets in the way. Perferably you could just link to it.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions|Guest) 00:27, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm....well this might take a while but you could try looking at those links above that I've provided. I'm afraid I can't help you too much, I don't really know what to start with 1st. I'll let somebody else help you.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions|Guest) 00:36, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've moved the article being worked on to a sub-page here: User:Henslee57/Guerilla Marketing Talk Radio.
My first note is that there are no independent, third-party references. You must provide sources not associated with the company/program in order to have the article on Wikipedia. This could be reviews, news articles or other publications specifically discussing Guerilla Marketing Talk Radio. Once you have those, then we can work on the article structure. Without them, the article fails WP:V and WP:N, and would never survive on Wikipedia. -- Kesh (talk) 02:15, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As has been mentioned, the tone is extremely promotional: it's even written in second-person (telling "you" what "you" can do to interact with the show, etc.) like an ad, rather than in third person, as an encyclopedia article should be. It is not so much an article as a shameless advertisement for the show and its host: unsalvageably so, in the opinion of more than one editor. This is a complete violation of our requirement of impartiality. The other question that we face is that of whether the show is notable enough to have an article. Frankly, I see no signs of notability, not even any unsupported assertion of notability. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:22, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Template:Internet-bcast-stub. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Dravecky (talk) 12:00, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, this is not an acceptable way to hide the text from your speedily-deleted article. Your edits affected hundreds of articles. Please take greater care in the future. - Dravecky (talk) 12:00, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moved from article talk

I would like to know SPECIFICALLY HOW TO MAKE THIS ARTICLE ACCEPTABLE i need to stop wasting time what am i missing? Henslee57 (talk) 03:08, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Specifically? Gut it of anything that reads remotely like self-promotion or advertising. Provide citations that show this isn't some fly-by-night operation, but an established and notable thing.
At this point, I'm not seeing anything really salvageable. A Google search shows no reviews, articles or books about this program. Unless you can cite some local newspaper articles or something, it's not going to survive. And even if you can, it'd need a significant rewrite to remove the advertising-speak. -- Kesh (talk) 03:41, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Self-published and questionable sources in articles about themselves Policy shortcut: WP:SELFPUB Material from self-published and questionable sources may be used as sources in articles about themselves, so long as:

it is relevant to their notability; im still learning Henslee57 (talk) 04:31, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, self-published material can be used but not as the *only sources*. We need to see some verifiable independent and reliable sources. Personally, I don't think this is at all notable or deserving of an article in an encyclopedia but if you can provide some reliable sources you might be able to make a case otherwise.
