Resume

Monir Amerkhous is a french/moroccan citizen mainly known for holding the moroccan national record in 3*3*3 cube.

Early life

Monir Amerkhous was born in 1984 and spent his childhood in Evry (a city of Essonne, France). His very first passions were nature discovering, geography, playing soccer with friends around the block.

In his teenage years, he found an interest for computer science and he decided to dedicace his future learning and practicing it. That is the reason why, just after his high school graduation, he pursued a BTS degree (french diploma for high level computer technicians in two years) in Evry.

Then he worked as bag handler for Aéroports de Paris for one year from september 2004 to August 2005 in Orly airport. Even today, he often says that is was one of his darknest periods in his life, full of doubts.

His life became brighter once his knew he was accepted in Miage in september 2005, a famous computer science department which belongs to Paris 12 Val de Marne University. He pursued a bachelor and then a master degree (graduation in september 2008) in parallel of an apprenticeship for a world leader company which produce ophthalmic optical equipments.

The discovery of Rubik's cube

No one knows exactly when he played this game for the first time, but it is clear that one of his roommates, one day of early 2008, gave him the passion for this game. That still unidentified comrade teached him the basics of 3x3x3 rubik's cube. He was surely like a mentor to him.

Monir, feeling that he was learning well and fast, decided to compete in the Rubik's Cube French Open organised by the World Cube Association and which took place in Paris the 15th and 16th of March 2008.

For his very first one competition, he brilliantly took the moroccan national record in 3x3x3 with its best time at 2:01.05.

Never satisfied, he immediatly said in public after his record "I swear I'll will beat the 2 minutes barrier. For my country, for my friends".

Today, he is still working hard to achieve this goal.
