:::If I had my way, I would get rid of the dating information in the John Mayer article as well. The articles do not exist in order to generate fan gossip. Information of who they're dating does not belong in an encyclopedia. It does not matter where the source is coming from. It is not important to know who Michael Cera or John Mayer is dating, even less if they break up. As we all should know, wikipedia is not your typical encyclopedia. Typical encyclopedias might not mention celebs dating lives but then again they don't have articles on celebs either so should we delete every celebrity page? Almost every page about a celebrity has something about who they are with and I believe the general consensus on wikipedia is that it is notable enough to be mentioned. I say keep it. We should prob get rid of hook up history but at least mention who they are currently dating68.164.85.197 (talk) 06:27, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Birth year

edd: He was born in 1988. I have not edited Wikipedia before but can someone change it? IMDB will have right info. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.106.248.5 (talkcontribs) 09:57, 6 Dec 2006 (UTC)

Superbad

Somebody should create a page for the film Superbad. Also add info about Cera co-starring in Superbad. I'm too Noobish to know how to correctly do a film page layout. Ibemonty2000 21:55, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Arrested Development

I notice that there is a complete lack of anything arrested development related in his career.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.166.180.116 (talkcontribs) 20:11, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Personal life

Regarding the recent removal of information about his relationship, with the edit summary "rv his dating life is not notable": The information was referenced to articles in both Toronto Life and The Globe and Mail. In what sense is it not notable? Thanks in advance for any opinions on the matter. --Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 19:30, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Those are reliable sources so I'd say include it. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 05:39, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Another editor put it back in. WP:BLP asks us to be very cautious about privacy, but considering that both he and his girlfriend are celebrities, and considering that the relationship has been reported in many mainstream media articles, I think it's probably reasonable to keep it in. --Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 00:38, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't believe it is necessary to mention it because, we are an encyclopedia not a gossip column. An encyclopedia should be professional and a biography on him should focus on his acting career. I fail to see how his dating life is notable. The only people interested in this information are teeny-boppers, which we do not need to feed. Fans of his can gossip about his dating life in fan sites. If they got married that would be a bit different. Fighting for Justice (talk) 01:10, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I just think it is notable because I was sure he is gay. 75.3.227.205 (talk) 06:28, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think I do appreciate the points you are making. What might argue against what you are saying, though, is that the cited material appeared in profiles of Cera that were mainly focused on his acting; they were not in gossip columns, and not in tabloids (the Globe and Mail!). That would suggest it is more than just teeny-boppers who might find it relevant. Featured articles on Wikipedia do make mention of who the actor or musician is dating, if it is adequately sourced; see John Mayer#Personal life, for example. --Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 02:59, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I had put the information back on the page, but then undid it after I realized there was an ongoing discussion about this. I had a similar issue with the article on Ben Foster. I deleted the mention of his dating life, but it was placed back in because it was supported by reputable resources. In the case of Michael Cera, one of the most reputable sources in Canada is the Globe and Mail. Keeping in mind the desire for some celebrities for privacy, I see no problem with including information about a celebrity's love life as long as it's not just supported by the tabloids or gossip sites like TMZ or Perez Hilton. For the sake of consistency on Wikipedia, I think it should be put back in. Mdb1370 (talk) 04:16, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Who he is dating is not notable. We don't need such information in an encyclopedia. Fighting for Justice (talk) 05:17, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
