The majority of the information on Solomon Trujillo's page appears to be about fights with the Australian Government on behalf of Telstra. I don't think this belongs here. Maybe a separate page could be started discussing the disagreements between Telstra and the Government, but this is more related to Telstra than Mr. Trujillo.

FTTN

I don't know that FTTN is necessarily "vital infrastructure". Desirable, yes, vital, not yet. The text makes it look like Sol is putting the brakes on extensions to the power grid or irrigation projects. Thedangerouskitchen 12:51, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

telecommunications are vital infrastructure, you've heard the rumours about the info superhighway, knowledge workers and the like. well, they are all true. without major imporvements, we will become technological have nots, and the nation will suffer. brad 16.05.07

Suffer, yes, but nobody will die. Vital infrastructure stops people from dying. Now, if we were at a point where fibre was required for calls to emergency services, I would say that FTTN was vital. That isn't the case yet. If FTTN is vital infrastructure, what do you call the PSTN?Thedangerouskitchen 13:56, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

nobody dies if we don't irrigate, yet you say that is vital. brad 3/07/07

There'd be plenty of dead crops. Nonetheless, nobody is dying because FTTN isn't here yet. Maybe in 10 years it will be vital. Now, it isn't. Important, yes. Desirable, yes. Vital, no. Thedangerouskitchen 11:27, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Negative bias of the biography

This bio shows a clear negative bias to the point that it could be libellous. For instance, mentionning that he is the "least Admired CEO" on the very first paragraph stains everything else. (I've removed that line). CEO aren't hired to be "admired". It is also not a reflection on his life or career, at least not to the point that it should be one of the first statement about the man.

The rest of the article reads similarly. He was not charged with any impropriety with the Qwest scandal (Nacchio was) but the article hints at it. I don't see any fact that points that he was responsible for the demise of Graviton although again the article hints at it. Graviton was funded by the the government (CIA) and many projects were affected by the September 11 attacks.

The rest of the article reads the same and is in serious need of some NPV cleanup. Until then, I will try to tone down the text.

I agree, and would also ask all Whirlpool users to keep their ideologies to themselves when editing this article. Orbitalwow 15:58, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

oh come on, if its true, its true. as far as i can tell, the telstra stuff is. sol is controversial. he has done a lot of controversial stuff. those are facts.

I think that it may not be a coincidence that everyone regards him so badly. T3h 04:44, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's hard not to have a NPOV when he has not done nothing positive. 170.65.188.1 (talk) 01:27, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Controversies

This section seems to be a sounding board for those who have an axe to grind with Sol. We should be extra carefull to stay to the facts and not hint at anything else. The phrase below is a good example of what I mean. Beside needing reference, it infers that these are the major actions that Sol took while at the company. I am not convinced that he was responsible for the closing of the company for one. The company was mostly financed by the US government (CIA) and much cut were made after Sept 11.

  • While at Graviton, he hired 40 employees in November to achieve a $750,000 bonus, laid them off in January, and shuttered the company 12 months later. [verification needed]

[1]

Another "controversy" moved from the main page

  • He previously left his job as CEO of Orange SA in 2003 [2] after having held that position for less than a year. According to commentators, he took up a "Trappist-like stance on his reasons for quitting". [3]

The text insinuates that he was forced to leave but I don't see anything in the reference that tells us that he failed in any way in his job at Orange. A more serious reference [4] tells us that he did quite well in fact, for the shareholders that is.

--Bernardd 08:13, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest we remove the bullet point about the federal criminal probe. Firstly, Trujillo resigned from US West immediately prior to that company's acquisition by Qwest. [5]. The probe, which is alluded to, actually was targeted on Qwest, which Trujillo never worked for. The Denver Morning Post [6] and the Rocky Mountain News [7] both discuss this probe, and Joe Nacchio's subsequent trial and conviction for insider trading, in significant detail. I can find no mention / allegation of any involvement by Trujillo.

The bottom line is, this sentence, as written, insinuates Trujillo's involvement in criminal activity without an identifiable source. Such a state of affairs is inconsistent with our standards for Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons.

If anyone has a different view of the facts then please speak up.

Not really - that is a (legal under the GFDL) copy of this article. --Scott Davis Talk 14:55, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Obvious Bias - Limited Citations.

This biography is pathetic, I came here to view a biography not a page filled with abysmal libel and obvious bias.

Either an admin needs to lock this page or somebody without bias please clean it up and add the relevant citations.

--MoneyForNothing 15:01, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think this article is a very honest look at how much people hate Sol. He must be a very hated person if his biography is so negative towards him. But, I think the only way you are going to get a neutrality is by deleting the entire article.
