Management Team
Edmund (Ted) Chislett, President and Chief Operating Officer
Ted Chislett has been President of the Company since 1997. Through team-building, new services and strategic acquisitions, he has guided the Company to its current position with over a million customers across Canada.
Prior to joining Primus Canada, Mr. Chislett was a consultant and principal of GT Communications, and previously founded VisionTel, a long distance carrier.
He began his career at the Cablesystems Engineering division of Rogers Communications where he assumed roles of increasing responsibilities including Vice President Research and Development and Vice President Technology.
At Rogers he founded Rogers Network Services as a Competitive Access Provider and led the start-up as Vice President and General Manager. Mr.
Chislett is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, with Bachelor of Engineering Science (Electrical) and Master of Business Administration degrees.
Peter H. Kines, CA , Chief Financial Officer =
Mr. Kines joined Primus in April, 2006 as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to his arrival at Primus, Mr. Kines served as the Chief Financial Officer of 180 Connect Inc., a TSX listed corporation, guiding the growth of the company, its expansion into the US market and through to the company’s successful April, 2004 IPO.
Mr. Kines is an established senior executive whose experience includes corporate finance, acquisitions, re−organizations and restructurings, initial public offerings in Canada, Canadian regulatory reporting requirements and financial planning and cash flow management matters. Mr. Kines previously served as a manager with the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young LLP, Chartered Accountants.
Mr. Kines is a chartered accountant and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree majoring in Commerce and Economics from the University of Toronto.
Andrew Day, Senior Vice President, Residential Services Andrew Day joined Primus in July, 1999 as Vice President, Marketing and Sales (Residential) and in July, 2000 his responsibilities broadened to include overall management of the Residential Services Division.
Before joining Primus, Mr. Day was General Manager of Business Development for AT&T Canada, where he helped develop many new products and services. He was also a member of the original competitive long distance provider launch team at AT&T's predecessor company, Unitel.

A.J. Byers, Senior Vice President, Business Services
A.J. Byers joined Primus in March 2004, and is responsible for the management of the Business Services division at Primus.
Before joining Primus, Mr. Byers was the Chief Operating Officer for Magma Communications, Canada's leading full service Internet Solutions Company.
Through acquisition, Magma's service offerings are now a key component of the growth strategy for Primus Business Services.

Kevin Hickey, Senior Vice President, Network and Technical Operations
Kevin Hickey joined Primus Canada in February 2003 and is responsible for leading the engineering, planning, network operations, provisioning and technical support areas in Primus.
Mr. Hickey is a seasoned Telecom executive with more than 25 years experience in the industry and has a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Iowa State University.
Mr. Hickey has significant Canadian, US, and international business experience.
Previously, he was the Senior Vice President, Network & Operations for Maxlink Communications, a start-up fixed wireless carrier licensed in the 28 GHz band in Canada.
He has spearheaded network equipment selection, process definition, and support system selection for a pan-European startup voice business; played a pivotal role in negotiations of agreements to establish and evolve the pan-European joint venture; and played a key role in successful Japanese / US / British negotiations to enable "standard" ISDN networks to actually communicate end-to-end.
Mr. Hickey also has significant US telecom experience resulting from his technical and business roles at AT&T.
Maureen Merkler, Vice President, Human Resources
Maureen Merkler is responsible for the delivery and execution of human resources strategies that align, support and contribute to Primus Canada's business agenda.
Through the enhancement of internal systems, Ms. Merkler and her team continue to foster work environments conducive to maximizing Employee potential.
Maureen Merkler has been directly involved in Primus' Strategic Leadership, Effective Management and Vision Development initiatives.
Before joining Primus, Ms. Merkler was the Vice President of Human Resources for London Telecom Network and WinTel Communications.
Maureen Merkler is a certified Human Resources professional and a member of the Human Resource Professionals Association of Ontario.
Carl Scase, Vice President, Information Services
Carl Scase joined Primus in December 2000 and has responsibility for Information Services.
Mr. Scase has been instrumental in re-engineering business processes, formalizing development practices and standardizing technologies resulting in improved quality, decreased costs and faster systems development and deployment.
Over the last 25 years Carl Scase he has held senior management positions in the Telecommunications and Software Industries.
Most recently he was COO at Inlogic Software and CIO at Rogers Communications.
Mr. Scase has an Honours BSc Degree from the University of Western Ontario.
Jill C. Schatz, General Counsel & VP Law
Jill Schatz joined Primus in 2008 as General Counsel and VP Law and has overall responsibility for the legal needs of the Company.
Ms. Schatz has extensive in-house experience in various public and private corporations and has held senior legal, corporate secretarial and executive roles in the IT and Telecommunications industries since 2000 with Momentum Advanced Solutions Inc. (formerly OnX Enterprise Solutions Inc.) and Cybersurf Corp. Prior to 2000 she held in-house positions with ICI Canada Inc. (formerly C-I-L Inc.) and TransCanada PipeLines Limited.
Ms. Schatz is active in the corporate counsel community and is a past-President of the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association (“CCCA”). She currently serves on the Executives of the IT and E-Commerce Section of the Ontario Bar Association and the Toronto Chapter of the CCCA.
