Lobo (lit. Wolf) is a fantasy thriller series of ABS-CBN which premiered last January 28, 2008. It starred by the hottest property of ABS-CBN, Angel Locsin on the lead role. [2] The series is directed by the box-office film director, Ms.Cathy Garcia-Molina at the helm.[citation needed]

Story

The plot revolves around young lovers Lyka Raymundo and Noah Ortega. Lyka is a young woman aspiring to be a fashion designer and is currently working as a fashion assistant in the House of Elle. Her decision to pursue the arts is frowned upon by her Tita Clara Rivero because it according to her, it is not a practical choice.

Lyka and Noah are childhood friends but they were separated from each other. Years later, their paths shall cross when Noah became a second lieutenant of the Philippine Army. During a crucial mission, he saved Don Manolo Sebastian and became involved in the battle between the Luna and the Waya.

Now Lyka is working under the House of Elle, as Lady Elle's assistant. She has been accepted into the job as Lady Elle thinks Lyka is their last hope: "Ang Huling Bantay". Lyka meets Noah, Lady Elle's bodyguard and driver. Little did she know that he is actually her childhood friend, "JayJay" whom she thought was long dead.

The blossoming romance between the two is hindered by the presence of Gabrielle Dizon and Anton Rivero. Gabrielle is a deep-penetration agent who attempts to distract Noah while Anton is in love with Lyka and will do anything to prove his love.

There are two opposing groups in the story-the Luna and the Waya. The members of the Luna organization have a grudge against the werewolves while the Waya are the protectors of the lobo. The Waya are protectors of the werewolves and they want the lobo to co-exist harmoniously with human beings.[citation needed]

Cathy Garcia-Molina, the box-office film director was chosen to direct this TV series that will be starred by the Queen of Primetime, Angel Locsin's first teleserye in ABS-CBN. FM Reyes and Jerry Lopez-Sineneng also joined as co-directors of the series with Dang Bagas as the Head Writer.

Production

In 2004, Lobo was already planned to make as a project of ABS-CBN before it was all about siblings who were both wolf. Robin Padilla was the first shoice of ABS-CBN for the role Noah with Kristine Hermosa as Lyka but was failed because he transferred to GMA Network. In early 2007, John Lloyd Cruz and Anne Curtis were also offered for the lead role but was'nt work because both of them must do their roles for the Book 2 of Maging Sino Ka Man. The show was only started and made when Angel Locsin finally tranferred to ABS-CBN and the management decided to paired her to the hottest actor of ABS-CBN, Piolo Pascual. Heart Evangelista was also offered for the role where Shaina Magdayao portrays. Also according to the Staffs and Management, Lobo will end in July 2008.[3][4]

Plot

Can love prevail between two people who are destined to destroy each other? Lobo brings to light one great love story portrayed by two of the country's most beautiful faces who will definitely capture your hearts starting this January! Noah and Lyka's will lead lives worlds apart until their fates are entwined in a journey full of secrets, betrayals and violence. Unravel the mystery of this tale between ill-fated lovers who will go against the odds to be together, defying and challenging whatever force that conspire to tear them apart. Even before this much-awaited teleserye premieres on national television, its lead stars Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin are equally besieged with endless controversies. Not that surprising since they are the hottest names in showbiz today. Yet through it all, the two remain focused on their main goal, which is to make this project a successful endeavor. Everyone will surely watch out for their chemistry as a pair considering that this is their first team-up together.

Reception

The show premiered in January 28, 2008 having 27.7%, the highest reception among (Palos & Kung Fu Kids) in Mega Manila ratings.[5] The whole cast of Lobo including Angel was so ecstatic with the warm reception of the viewers to their first episode of her show in ABS-CBN.[6]. The teleserye holds the 3rd Most-watched Weekday program in NUTAM Survey for March 2008[7] and it is the highest rated program of ABS-CBN in this year, 2008.

Soundtrack

The soundstack of Lobo was composed by Ogie Alcasid entitled Ikaw ang Pangarap, that was sung by Martin Nieverra.[citation needed]
