Barnstar

The Working Man's Barnstar
For your work on Spore (video game), dealing with platform and release date issues. Yamla 17:31, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An image that you uploaded, Image:Tunguskaevent.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. 76.252.1.173 (talk) 03:41, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale does not cover this image in this particular article. The image must illustrate the publication of the issue of the magazine in question, not simply an 'event'. 76.252.1.173 (talk) 03:41, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Sporebox.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Sporebox.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:10, 12 June 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? --MrStalker (talk) 11:10, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Manofsteel5.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Manofsteel5.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:07, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Babaroga (game company)

A tag has been placed on Babaroga (game company), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. TNX-Man 17:32, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Barbaroga

That may be the case. Are there any reliable sources for the article? I don't think the page will be speedily deleted, since you've added the {{hangon}} tag and listed your reasoning on the talk page, but adding references will keep the article from being prod-ed or taken to articles for deletion. Good luck! TNX-Man 17:46, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. (You sent me another message while I was typing my reply above) - Since two articles with the exact same name (different capitalizations) appeared at almost the exact same time, it appeared to be advertising to me. Again, cheers! TNX-Man 17:46, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The reliable source is that they've published games, have their own site, were hired by Electronic Arts and Disney to do their software. I don't know how two pages with the same name appeared - one is changed to a redirect to the main page. JAF1970 (talk) 17:47, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In order for it to be a reliable source, there has to be an actual source. There are a lot of companies out there that have published games and have their own site. Have they been covered in an independent publication? Is there something to indicate notability? TNX-Man 17:52, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Gamasutra profile added. There's others. JAF1970 (talk) 17:59, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
They also won a contest at the 2006 Game Developers Conference. Links added. JAF1970 (talk) 18:09, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(outdent) - Hey, now we're talking. An award confers notability and as such, I've removed the speedy deletion tag. Good luck on improving the rest of the article and if there's anything with which I can help, drop me a line. Cheers! TNX-Man 18:13, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, but when you slapped the AfD deletion tag, I was still in the middle of creating the page. :p JAF1970 (talk) 18:14, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

June 2008

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. However, please know that editors do not own articles and should respect the work of their fellow contributors on Spore (video game). If you create or edit an article, know that others are free to change its content. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Steve Crossin (contact) 07:24, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I do not "own" pages, Steve. Furthermore, leaked games are not notable according to WP:VG. Every game is leaked. JAF1970 (talk) 07:35, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have to agree with Steve here. You do act like you own the page at times. People can't even edit it at times, without you reverting it or changing it around somehow. RobJ1981 (talk) 04:26, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Rob, you were reverted by two different people. Don't be sore because it's not WP:VG to mention leaked games unless it's significant. JAF1970 (talk) 07:01, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This is more than just you reverting me. This back in May: [1], along with several other talk page discusssions. Plus the whole thing about the GamerStooge site(which you work on), that got black listed or whatever. All of this points to ownership issues in my view. Perhaps I'll ask an admin about this. Keep an eye on the way you're coming across JAF - try not to be overly aggressive, or sarcastic as people will take that as aggression. --Samtheboy (t/c) 18:22, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you should notice The Link of the Past giving off loads of attitude with the *gasp* and stuff. JAF1970 (talk) 18:51, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I know, however you have been warned before about your apparent aggressiveness - I'm just trying to save you grief! Also re: name changes, I was just trying to find a middle ground - I don't really care what it's called in the end as long as I can find it! --Samtheboy (t/c) 15:05, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Black Pearl

On your edit to the Black Pearl page on 14:52, 20 May 2007, you noted that the Black Pearl was originally called the Wicked Wench. Also, it has been noted on the Black Pearl page that the ship was ordered burned and sunk by Cutler Beckett. What is the source of this info, since it isn't available in the films? Thanks, Nathan 1981 (talk) 01:58, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DVD notes. JAF1970 (talk) 05:04, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks. Any DVD (PoTC 1,2,3) in particular? Any place in particular (commentaries, special features . . .)? I'll find the exact sources and place them as citations in the Black Pearl page if you can point me in the right direction. Nathan 1981 (talk) 17:00, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, if you do a Google search for "Wicked Wench" and "Black Pearl", you'll learn that "Wicked Wench" was the name of the ship on the ride. It was written into the script that the Black Pearl was originally the Wicked Wench but changed by Barbossa to the Black Pearl. JAF1970 (talk) 18:10, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Nplus1.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Nplus1.jpg.
