Janet Jackson concert chronology |
The Rock Witchu Tour is the fifth concert tour by Janet Jackson in support of her tenth studio album Discipline. This is Jackson's first tour in nearly seven years[1] . The tour will mostly visit Canada and the United States. Although Jackson has expressed interest in touring countries outside of North America, Live Nation hasn't announced any additional dates.
About the tour
Rumors of Jackson touring were sparked during promotion of her last studio album 20 Y.O., where Jackson stated in many interviews that she was preparing for tour. While in the midst of rehearsing for the upcoming tour, Jackson was in the process of finishing her contract with Virgin Records. When she was signed to Island Def Jam, all plans for the tour had been scrapped, as the label had requested Jackson re-enter the studio right away to start work on Discipline.[1] In early 2008, Jackson announced that she would go on tour on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The audience was given free tickets to her show at the Staples Center. While planning the tour, Jackson started a phone line where fans could call in and request songs to be performed. Jackson will be performing all of her memorable hits, including those from her pre-Control days.[2] The two and a half hour show kicked off in Vancouver on September 10, 2008 to rave reviews.[3][4]
