Hope Valley College, Castleton Road (A6187), Hope, Hope Valley, Derbyshire is a comprehensive school, adjacent to the Peakshole Water, in the High Peak district for students in years 7 to 11.
History
The school was first opened in September 1958 but did not officially open until July 1959 and has celebrated its 50th anniversary.[1]
In July 2000, it became a Technology College. In 2005, it also gained Arts College specialist status. The college also received a specialism in Applied Learning with Gifted and Talented in March 2009 making it the first school in Derbyshire to be awarded three specialisms.[2]

It has around 570 students attending.[3] The college has a 'Big Band'.[4], and a wind band.

The school has three houses named after the Upper Derwent Valley dams situated approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) from the school:
Academic performance
Students from the school get better than average GCSE results.[5] It does not have a sixth form, although the adult education programme thrives.[citation needed]
