The 2nd Wikimeetup Karachi in Karachi is currently in planning.

If you are interested in Wikipedia or other Wikimedia projects, regardless of your level of experience or involvement, or if you are otherwise involved in with Free content you are invited and welcome.

About Meetup

A social gathering for users of the wiki projects operated by the Wikimedia Foundation. Where we...

Meet up and chat about Wikimedia projects and share experiences. Mainly a casual social event. You can expect to meet some very keen Wikipedians, however this is also an open invite for anyone interested in finding out more about Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects.

Agenda

Bring your own ideas!

  • Possiblity of setting-up Wikimedia local chapter in Pakistan.
  • Jimmy Wales emphasized on having a public outreach event in Pakistan like a Wikipedia Academy, where he can deliver a public lecture in some hall that seats at least 500-1000 people.
  • Localization of MediaWiki
  • Publicity of Wikimedia projects and Free content in Pakistan.

What, Where, When, and How?

Presently being discussed: see Wikipedia talk:Meetup/Karachi 2.

Jimmy Wales message to attendees of Wikimeetup Karachi 1

Wow, only 3 people out of a city of millions care about Wikipedia.

I think the focus of the first meetup should be to think about strategies within Wikipedia and with local bloggers to get more people to come to the next meetup. The first 3 people who come in October should think about how to get 10-20 to the next meetup, in December.

And then planning can begin in earnest for a serious push forward in Pakistan!
