The BBC organised an edit-a-thon event in Islamabad on 8 December 2016, as part of its annual global 100 Women campaign. This was the first such Wikipedia event in Pakistan. Wikipedians in and around Islamabad were encouraged to join by working on articles related to women's topics in the task list provided, either in person at the venue or by joining in online. The edit-a-thon involved the editing of articles on both the Urdu and English Wikipedia.
Purpose[edit]
To raise awareness of the gender gap on Wikipedia, improve Wikipedia's coverage on women, and encourage women to edit the encyclopedia.
