John Ankerberg (born December 10, 1945 in Chicago[1]) is an ordained minister and the author or co-author of 87 books, primarily through Harvest House Publishers.[2] He also produces and hosts his own nationally-syndicated Christian television talk show, The John Ankerberg Show.[3]

Education
- Attended Prospect High School, Mount Prospect, IL, 1960 to 1964.
- Graduate of the University of Illinois, B.A., 1968.
- Graduate of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with Master of Arts in Church History and History of Christian Thought, 1972.
- Graduate of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with Master of Divinity degree, 1973
- Attended Bethel Theological Seminary, Saint Paul, MN, completing course work for the Doctor of Ministry program 1977 and 1978.
- Transferred to Luther Rice Seminary, Jacksonville, FL, graduating with Doctor of Ministry degree, 1990

Controversies
- Ankerberg was prominently involved in the 1987 PTL scandal by publicly exposing Jim Bakker's indiscretions.[4]
- A Christian group known by outsiders as "The Local Church" levied a $136 million dollar lawsuit against Harvest House Publishers because of their inclusion in the book Encyclopedia of Cults and New Religions which Ankerberg co-authored. After several appeals, the plaintiff's claims were ultimately denied by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2007.[5]
