North Vista Secondary School (Abbreviation: NV; Chinese: 德新中学) is a secondary school located in Sengkang, in north-eastern Singapore.
The campus was relocated to Sengkang New Town from Thomson in December 2000[2]. Thomson Secondary School was renamed as North Vista Secondary School after the relocation. However, the school retained its Chinese name to preserve historical links with the new school.
History
The school started as Thomson Government Chinese Middle School in 1956, as one of the Government Chinese Middle Schools set up to cater to Chinese school students who had their studies disrupted by the Chinese middle schools riots. It later merged with Thomson Vocational School to become Thomson Secondary School.
When Thomson Secondary School was relocated to Sengkang Town on 15 December 2000, it was renamed North Vista Secondary School. The Chinese name of Thomson Secondary School was maintained to preserve its historical links with the new school.
2006 marked the school's Golden Jubilee. There were celebrations throughout the year to commemorate this milestone in the school's history, including a Torch Relay-cum-Homecoming Ceremony on 11 February 2006, a Golden Jubilee Concert on 8 April 2006, and a Gala Dinner in September 2006.
