T. A. Pai Management Institute (popularly known with it's acronym TAPMI) is a business school in India. It was established in 1984 and is located in the university town of Manipal, near the temple town of Udupi. The institute is among the top ranking business schools in India.[1][2][3][4]

History

T. A. Pai Management Institutee (TAPMI) was established in 1984 in Manipal by Late Shri. T. A. Pai to provide an impetus to the task of building professional management capability in the country and to achieve excellence in management education, research and practice.[5][6]

Campus

TAPMI has shifted its campus to a new premises in January 2009. It's new campus is spread over 42 acres (170,000 m2) and is situated about 5 km. from Manipal. The campus has a built up area of 2,50,000 sq. ft. and is Wi-Fi-enabled. The campus is equipped with air-conditioned classrooms and offices along with other facilities like knowledge centre, computer centre, student’s centre, hostels for men and women, residences for faculty and staff.[7]

Academic Programmes

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGPM)

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management at TAPMI is a two year full-time residential programme. It is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation(NBA), India and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE). The course includes an eight-week summer project with a company, after completion of the first year and a two-week project with a non-governmental (NGO) engaging in a social cause.[8]

eGovernance Program for Executives

TAPMI has launched its eGovernance Program for Executives (eGPX) programme in collaboration with the National Institute for Smart Government [NISG], Hyderabad, on the 6th of April 2009. The eGPX program is offered as a one year, full-time, residential program and expects to achieve the candidates’ industry-readiness to take-on e- Governance projects in India and abroad upon successful completion of eGPX.[9][10]

Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Banking & Financial Services (PGDM-BFS)

TAPMI is to introduce this new course from the 2010 academic year. The course is modelled on similar lines to it's flagship PGDM programme. The course is aimed towards those aspiring to make managerial careers in the Financial Services industry.[11]

Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Healthcare Management (PGDM-HCM)

TAPMI is to introduce this new course from the 2010 academic year. The course is modelled on similar lines to it's flagship PGDM programme. The course is aimed towards the Healthcare Management sector. The admission process for this course is different from the other PGDM courses at TAPMI.[12]

Continuous Learning Programmes

TAPMI is actively involved with a number of business organisations to provide continuous learning and education to their executives. The pgogrammes are composite and flexible and the time duration is based on the business organization's requirements. Executive Education Programme(EEP), Faculty Development Programmes(FDP), EEP for SMEs(Small and Medium Enterprises) are some of the courses offered.[13]

Other Programmes

The other programmes offered at TAPMI are the Fast Track Certificate Programmes, Masters in European Studies & Management in offered by Manipal University in association with TAPMI.

Foreign Collabarations

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed with Sheffield Hallam University, UK for student and faculty exchanges. The first student exchange under this MoU is scheduled during September-December, 2009.[14]
