Photo Licensing

Of the Creative Commons licences, we can only accept those that allow both derivative and commercial reuse (since our licence, the GFDL allows both). Attribution and Sharalike licenses are acceptable. There are other licenses that are alright too, the GFDL and the Free Art Licence, for instance. You might try creating a flickr account and contacting the owners of those pictures, they might be talked into relicensing the photos. WilyD 12:44, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another request from a techno-fool

Sorry to assail you with another renaming request, Brookie, but I have "renaming" confused with "moving". I have looked at instructions in Wikipedia How to edit etc and other places that I discover but the actual RENAMING process is not clear to me. In any event, I'm wondering if RENAMING is something only Admins can do.

I think anyone can do it - do have a "Move" tab at the top of your page - if you do - then you can do it.

Now to the problem: I have successfully set up my first Archive <Hooray!> I neglected to put start and finish dates on it <Boo!>

Could you therefore kindly

  • Go to my Archive page from my Talk page and rename it

/Archive 1 (14 June 2006 - 31 August 2007)

Done

(Incidentally, must it have the slashmark? I have seen Archive pages that don't have this, but in the instructions it tells you to make a slash in order to create the link. Can we get rid of it?

You need the / to make the link but then show it without it in the description - see what i've done and copy that.
  • Then could you please fix the link at my Talk page to reflect the renaming, unless that updates automatically.
Done

Further question:

  • The Contents Box has disappeared from my Talk page. However, on better advice, I see that articles must have 3 headings and a Contents Box will automatically be generated by the page. I will wait for that to happen, ince I am now down on my Talk page to ONE paltry item.
It is automatic as you say

Lastly:

  • I hope you like the Roumieu article I've started. It still needs work but is it the right time now to get rid of the "under construction" box?
Looks good - you should remove the under construction box asap - this is ususally best used to stop intruders while you're actually working on it that day and don't want fidllers while you go and have a pee!

Even more lastly:

  • How do you get your Talk Page Editing Box to display a subject line? Can I have one, please? Or is this something I can do myself without wrecking the entire system? (don't take my tech skills for granted; they are primordial.)
There is one if you use the bar thing that you have there, but it won't appear if you ignore that and just use the edit tab!

Thanks for all the help you continue to give. Much appreciated. Take a look at your Barnstars page....  ;-) --FClef (talk) 12:22, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No prob's!and thanks for the cat - I have one that looks just like that! Brookie :) - he's in the building somewhere! (Whisper...) 15:57, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: thanks

You're very welcome! I'm glad I could help. Anything for an adorable feline on my talk page :) To answer your question: nope, I'm not an admin. GracenotesT § 04:28, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Eastcheap

Hi Fclef. Apologies for not getting back to you regarding your earlier message. I can't offer much of an excuse except that I was busy at the time and simply lost it further up my talk page!

I don't have a business phone number per-se, but if you'd like, send me an email (under toolbox on the left side when you're at my talk page), and I'll give you my mobile number. When the weather is nice - possibly later this week according to the forecast - I will do my best to take the photo you requested! I actually work on Fenchurch Street almost parallel to the location of the Eastcheap photo, so it shouldn't be too difficult. Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 21:54, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Brookie - please take a look at my recent edit of this article. I wonder whether then cleanup sign on it can now be removed? --FClef (talk) 08:43, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think so and have removed it! Brookie :) - he's in the building somewhere! (Whisper...) 09:56, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Brookie greeting

Bus Driver's Prayer

The 1970's dating is way off. I learned it from my father in the 1950's, and he repeated it then as old London folklore.

His version had 'give us this day our Maidenhead' which might pass as Greater London. Phdfromic (talk) 02:37, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Note

I have nominated Buckingham Palace for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. —Mattisse (Talk) 19:33, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, please help in upgrading the article. The discussion is still alive. All the above links are still relevant as the FAR goes on for quite a while, so your input would be greatly appreciated. The article should meed Wikipedia:Featured article criteria, which have been upgraded since the article's last FAR two years ago. Not being British myself, I find the amount of information considered "common knowledge" confusing, with much not explained and with so few citations given, and many of those just to the Buckingham Palace website; the lack of scholarly references is a disservice for such an import article for Britain. —Mattisse (Talk) 16:02, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Trooping the colour

Hi there and thanks for the note -off the top of my head i am not sure how to leave an editing only note - sorry - what i suggest is that find another page with such a thing and see what code is being used to make it invisible and then copy that - i don't think that it is anything restricted to Admins. Hope all is well Brookie :) - he's in the building somewhere! (Whisper...) 04:48, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Queen's Birthday Parade

Thank you for your work on this article. It hasn't gone unnoticed and I understand it is often a thankless task. So... Thank You! Philip.t.day (talk) 16:03, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I'm a Music Student First and foremost! But I also happen to be a reserve forces Officer in the British Army. Perhaps we should team up on some Military Music type pages this summer at some point. Phil Philip.t.day (talk) 11:16, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Quarter chimes at Westminster (Big Ben)

Dear FClef, thanks four your message. We had that discussion before, here and more detailed on de.wikipedia. I am not entirely convinced. While it is certainly true that the actual chimes from the Westminster clock tower are best described as 5/4 metre, I have no knowledge of any source that would prove, that 5/4 really represents the original form. 5/4 might be by mere chance. By the way, I am not the author of the music samples in the articles, Antonsusi is. I have no access to his sources, and therefore cannot rewrite his samples. I think you will best contact him on his German talk page de:Benutzer Diskussion:Antonsusi (if you need assistance concerning the language, I'll be willing to translate). Cheers! --FordPrefect42 (talk) 21:07, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

I am pretty new to Wiki so apologies if I am using the wrong format. Just wanted to thank you for overhauling Rhydian's Wiki page. Fabulous job done. His unofficial fansite are most appreciative. Don't know if you are a member there but if you are, they'd like to update their biog page and wanted to acknowledge your work. Cheers :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alarminglady (talkcontribs) 17:31, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks, Alarminglady. I tried to get back to your talkpage but I couldn't access you on Wikipedia yet. I am a Rhydian fan <obviously> but not a member on the unofficial fansite. Perhaps I will join but thanks for giving appreciation. Can you provide a link? Incidentally, I will copy this to the Discussion area of the Rhydian article. I must also cite the expertise of administrator AnemoneProjector who has been helpful recently. Thanks again. --FClef (talk) 18:35, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • You're welcome. [1] is his largest fansite (unofficial) and regularly updated. Forum only viewable to registered members (mostly female btw) Pass on thanks to AnemoneProjector too. --Alarminglady (talk) 20:29, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

From Boss & Chef : Julia Lezhneva

Dear FClef,

Thanks very much for starting making a Wikipage of Julia. You aksed who is Boss & Chef - the answer is that I am her friend. I appreciate very much your help. Since I am not a professional in computer technology, could you, please, help me inserting the following Julia's photo into her Wikipage. Many thanks in advance.

Yours, Boss & Chef —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boss & Chef (talkcontribs) 18:27, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Boss & Chef,

Thanks. I couldn't open the link! Even if I could, I would not be able to insert the picture, but I know of people who might be able to help with this.

However, you need to OPEN A WIKIPEDIA ACCOUNT so that I can correspond with you on your TALK page about the Julia article.

It is very simple to do and I think you will find that you have already been invited to do that.

If you have any difficulty, let me know. Give me a mobile number and I will call you. I am a City Guide in London and a musician, and I attended the concert at the Royal Albert Hall the other night.

Thanks. FClef (talk) 18:38, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
