Sir Harry Smith Community College is a small sized secondary school, situated in Eastrea Road, Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire. Opened in 1954 on the former site of the Whittlesea Workhouse (which was demolished in the 1930s), The College is named after Sir Harry Smith (19th Century English Army General and Former Governer of Cape Colony, South Africa) who was born in Whittlesey, and whose grave is situated in the cemetery close to the school. The interviews were needed as former head teacher Michael Sandeman was leaving for Arthur Mellows Village College, Glinton. The new head teacher Mr. Digby, was deputy head at Ramsey Abbey School. Laurie Richards retired after over 45 years at the school after Mr Jonathan Digby's appointment.
