Michael Raymond-James (born "Michael Raymond James" on December 24, 1977 in Detroit, Michigan), is an American actor. He is best known for playing Rene Lenier in the first season of HBO's series True Blood.
Career
Michael started out doing theater and studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York, with George Loros, Jeffery Horn and Robert Castle.[1]
He has starred in Craig Brewer's Black Snake Moan. He has also guest starred in such series as CSI, NCIS, Medium, Boston Legal, ER and the season two premiere of Lie to Me. He currently stars in the FX original series Terriers.
Personal life
James is married to Alex James (born "Alexandra Elaine Ricigliano" on Janaury 4, 1984 in Manhattan, New York). They were married on March 20, 2004 in a 6:00 P.M. ceremony in the evening at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Sleepy Hollow, New York.
The couple have three children. Their daughter, Kailyn Nicole James, was born on February 24, 2001 at 12:00 A.M. in the morning in Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, New York. Their son, Tristian Michael James, was born on May 15, 2007 at 3:00 A.M. in the morning in Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Their daughter, Aaliyah Elaine James, was born on July 29, 2010 at 6:00 A.M. in the morning in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Califorina.
James is the son-in-law of American Federal Marshal Nick Riciglieano (born "Nicholas Michael Ricigliano" on Janaury 11, 1958) and American classical pianist Kris Ricigliano (born "Krista Kay Jenkins" on June 28, 1961). He is also the brother-in-law of Elizabeth Benítez (born "Elizabeth Victoria Ricigliano" on June 21, 1987), who is the wife of Mexican-American actor, Benjamín Benítez (born "Kevin Alexander" on November 14, 1974), as well as the uncle of the couple's child, Hayden Benítez (born "Hayden Shane Alexander" on October 16, 2010), as well as the uncle of his sister-in-law's daughter, Ashlyn Benítez (born "Ashlyn Maria Ceraulo" on July 16, 2004), from her previous relationship with American actor, Rich Ceraulo (born "Ricardo Andrés Ceraulo" on March 27, 1977).
The family divides its time between their homes in Los Angeles, California, Manhattan, New York and Detroit, Michigan.
