Corporate Social Responsibility

Street to School

In August 2009, Aviva India launched its ‘Street to School’ programme in India working in partnership with CRY. The Corporate Responsibility (CR) program’s objective was to provide education to 50,000 underprivileged children over the next 3 years. At the start of this programme, Aviva India employees have volunteered a day’s salary, amounting to Rs 0.24 crore.[2] In India, they have partnered with Child Rights and You and ‘Save the Children’ to facilitate education (including other related factors that could prevent a child from attending school) for over 50,000 children by 2012. In the first year, Aviva India will be reaching out to 20,000 children across 9 projects in 5 states.

The Great Wall of Education

In 2009, Aviva along with Hindustan Times took an initiative called the Great Wall of Education in the city of Delhi[3]. It was built at Ansal Plaza, New Delhi, between 11 and 15 November, using books donated by the people for the welfare of underprivileged children. Over 200 schools came forward to donate books. The 5-day affair was then culminated in a book distribution ceremony on November 16 to ‘Save the Children’ India. The Great Wall of Education at Ansal Plaza amassed over 1,20,000 donated books.[4]

Company Vision

To be amongst India’s leading life insurers with a quality business model, focused on sustainable growth.
