Joe Rogan (born August 11, 1967) is an American comedian, actor and color commentator for the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Personal life
Religion and Spirituality
Rogan was raised Catholic.[1]
In September 2010 Rogan (along with Eddie Bravo) was a guest on the Alex Jones radio show, Rogan expressed that he does not follow any organized religions because he feels it is all the work of man. Rogan also said that he is not completely opposed to the concept of a "higher power" such as a God, however views the concept of God as part of nature that exists in everything. Rogan noted both personal experiences and psychedelic drug use as a reference point.
Drug Use and Advocacy
One of the recurring themes in his stand-up comedy and life is the use and support of cannabis, psilocybin mushrooms,and DMT. Rogan supports the medical and recreational use of cannabis.[2] He has also starred in the marijuana documentary The Union: The Business Behind Getting High. He has an isolation tank in his basement, which adherents believe fosters the body's natural production of DMT.[3] Rogan was featured in the 2010 History Channel documentary, Marijuana: A Chronic History, as an advocate of legalized medical use of marijuana. He is also the presenter of the 2010 documentary, DMT: The Spirit Molecule.
Parenthood and Marriage
On May 21, 2008, Rogan announced on the Kevin and Bean radio blow show in Los Angeles that his girlfriend had a baby girl, and confirmed the news on his fan forum.[4] The couple married in 2009 and are expecting their second child together.[5][6]
Martial Arts
Rogan began practicing martial arts at the age of 13. By the age of 15 he earned a black belt in Taekwondo and went on to become the Massachusetts Full Contact Taekwondo Champion four consecutive times. By the age of 19 he won the US Open Taekwondo Championship in the lightweight division. After becoming the lightweight champion he defeated the middleweight and heavyweight title-holders to obtain the Grand Championship.
Rogan then studied under martial arts master, Ari Louis.
During high school Rogan was a kickboxer, and also holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Jean Jacques Machado. In addition, Rogan also holds a brown belt in 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu under Eddie Bravo.[7]
Further more before finding major success as a actor and comedian, Rogan taught taekwondo while attending Boston University.
Conflicts with other comedians
On February 10, 2007 at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, Rogan argued on-stage with Carlos Mencia, accusing him of plagiarizing other comedians' work.[8] According to Rogan's account, he had just finished his act and introduced the next performer, Ari Shaffir, as a comedian who opens for "Carlos Men-steal-ia".[9] Mencia took offense and walked on the stage.
Rogan then accused him of stealing jokes and falsely portraying himself as a Mexican American. The Comedy Store later canceled Rogan's shows. The entire incident was filmed as part of filming for Rogan's internet reality show, JoeShow. It was then made available to watch or download at numerous websites, including Rogan's.[9]
According to Rogan, he is currently banned from the Comedy Store for violating the club's request that he not film his internet reality show there.[10] According to Rogan, his agent and publicity firm (who also represents Mencia) demanded that he either apologize to Mencia or else be dropped from the agency. Rogan refused to apologize to Mencia, and was dropped from the agency.[11]
Rogan has claimed that Dane Cook performed a bit on an episode of Premium Blend that Rogan had developed on I'm Gonna Be Dead Someday (sketch titled "Tigers Fucking"), and claimed to have performed the routine earlier in clubs with Cook present.[12] However, this dispute seemed to be laid to rest between the two comedians when Cook appeared on Rogans's podcast entitled The Joe Rogan Experience.[13]
Rogan has also strongly criticized Denis Leary for plagiarizing Bill Hicks.[14]

In December 2009, Rogan began hosting a regular podcast with concurrent live Ustream availability.[15] Frequently co-hosted by his support Brian "Redban" Reichle, the podcast features an array of guests from the pursuits of comedy, acting and Mixed Martial Arts.
