Pueblo West is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pueblo County, Colorado, United States. It is part of the Pueblo Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 16,899 at the 2000 census.Template:GR The Pueblo Post Office (ZIP Code 81007) serves Pueblo West postal addresses.[1]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 77.5 square miles (200.7 km²), of which, 77.5 square miles (200.7 km²) of it is land and 0.01% is water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 16,899 people, 5,984 households, and 4,847 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 218.1 people per square mile (84.2/km²). There were 6,374 housing units at an average density of 82.3/sq mi (31.8/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 88.45% White, 0.83% African American, 0.99% Native American, 1.07% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 6.01% from other races, and 2.57% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 18.30% of the population. 16.1% were of German, 11.1% Irish, 10.4% Italian, 10.3% English and 6.7% American ancestry according to Census 2000.

There were 5,984 households out of which 42.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.6% were married couples living together, 7.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.0% were non-families. 14.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.80 and the average family size was 3.10.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 29.9% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 32.3% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 8.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 100.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.1 males.
