Thibaut Courtois (born 11 May 1992) is a Belgian footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Atlético Madrid on loan from Chelsea.

Club career

Early career

Courtois joined Bilzen VV at an early age. Before joining Genk at the age of 7.Courtois began his career with local side Bilzen VV where he started his career as a left back. Soon after, in 1999, Courtois joined Racing Genk at the age of 7, and it was there that Courtois was converted into a keeper.

Racing Genk

After progressing through the Genk youth system, Courtois made his first team debut on the 17th April 2009 against Gent. He was a key figure in Genk's title victory in the 2010–11 season.[2] On July 14, 2011, Genk agreed a fee with English club Chelsea for Courtois which was rumored to have been €6 million according to reports from Belgium. Courtois has now been given permission to talk to the club, agree personal term and pass a medical before he is transferred.[3]

International career

On 3rd of June 2011, Courtois was named in the Euro 2012 Qualifying match for Belgium against Turkey.
