SPORTE² (Intelligent Management System to integrate and control energy generation, consumption and exchange for European Sport and Recreation Buildings) is a research project partly funded by the European Commission as an Integrated Project under the Seven Framework Programme (FP7) sponsorship program, that was tarte sind dlasjdflj , asdlfjasldjfas..asd fljiasdfasd...sadfoa.. The project started on 1 June 2010 is coordinated by D'Apollonia.

According to the project factsheet,[1] their mission is "to manage and optimize the triple dimensions of energy flows (generation, grid exchange, and consumption) in Sport and Recreation Buildings by developing a new scalable and modular BMS based on smart metering, integrated control, optimal decision making, and multi-facility management." Results of the project are available in [2].

Overview

The European Sport and Recreation Building Stock accounts for approximately 1,5 Million buildings or 8% of the overall building stock. These facilities are unique by their physical nature, their energy consumption profiles, the usage patterns of people inside, ownership, and comfort requirements.

The aim of SPORTE² is to develop an integrated, modular, and scalable ICT system to manage energy consumption, generation, and exchange locally and within the larger context of the smart grid/neighbourhood. The approach will target a reduction of energy consumption by up 30%, with commensurate CO2 reductions and cost savings. Three full-scale pilots representative of the sector (e.g. swimming pools, indoor and outdoor courts, gyms, etc) allow to test SPORTE² modules. Strong linkages to sport associations and green building design are present in the consortium to enable exploitation of project results.

Outcome

The outcome of the project are four scalable modules that can be purchased and employed separately or integrated depending on client needs. These modules are SPORTE² How (smart metering to determine where energy is being consumed), SPORTE² When (integrated control systems that enable the actuation of energy sourcing and consumption), SPORTE² Why (intelligent and optimal decision making given smart metering data and control capabilities), and SPORTE² Where (a multi-facility management portal).

Dissemination

As joint dissemination activity with the Future Internet Assembly, in March 2008 SOA4All in collaboration with other European research projects and technology platforms signed the Bled Declaration, a call for concerted European action to redesign the Internet.[3]

SOA4All participated in ICT 2010, Europe's most visible forum for ICT research and innovation.[5] SOA4All's exhibition stand, "The Service Jungle: bringing services to life" demonstrated SOA4All technologies and achievements to several visitors. The stand took second place in ICT 2010 Best Exhibit Awards.[6]

In March 2011 SOA4All released on YouTube a video, "SOA4All in the Future Internet of Services", illustrating its approach and final results.

Tom Messervey (project coordinator) and [Pierluigi Marzorati] participated to the Italian National Radio Show Mr Kilowatt, presenting SportE Project to thousands of Italian spectators
