Manning's Ohio Senate section needs to be updated to reflect committee assignment changes as follows:

In 2010, Manning reentered public life by running for a seat in the [[Ohio Senate]] against incumbent Senator [[Sue Morano]]. With Morano a top target in the 2010 election cycle, the race was rated as a toss-up. With an overwhelmingly Republican electorate, Manning edged Morano to take the seat, obtaining 52.29% to Morano's 47.71%.<ref>{{cite web | url=http://www.sos.state.oh.us/SOS/elections/electResultsMain/2010results/20101102osenate.aspx | title=2010 general election results | publisher=Ohio Secretary of State | date=November 2, 2010 | accessdate=September 12, 2011}}</ref>

On January 3, 2011, Manning was sworn into her first term in the Ohio Senate. She serves on the committees of Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources; Education (as vice chair); Government Oversight and Reform; and Ways and Means and Economic Development. She also serves on the the Lorain County Transportation Improvement District; the Legislative Service Commission; the Ohio Arts Council; the Ohio School Facilities Commission; and the Ohio Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs.
