Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof[2] (born 13 March 1989)[3] is a British journalist, television presenter and model.

Background

Geldof was born in London in 1989, the second daughter of Bob Geldof and Paula Yates. She is the granddaughter of Hughie Green. Her sisters are Fifi Trixibelle Geldof and Pixie Geldof. She also has a younger half-sister, Tiger Lily Hutchence Geldof.[4]

She grew up in Chelsea, London and Faversham, Kent, and was educated at Queen's College, London. After moving out of her father's house at eighteen, Peaches rented a flat in Islington, North London, but gave up her lease to move to New York with then-husband, Max Drummey.[5]

Career

Geldof wrote a magazine column for the UK edition of Elle Girl, starting with its April 2004 issue and continuing until the magazine folded in October 2005.[6][7] From age 14-17 she wrote a weekly socio-political column for The Daily Telegraph , and wrote numerous articles for The Guardian. Geldof worked for a time as an advice columnist in ES Magazine, and writes a regular monthly column for Nylon magazine, and also for Cleo Australia.[8]

Geldof wrote and presented her own documentary TV programme, Peaches Geldof: Teenage Mind in 2005, which was followed up with Peaches Geldof: Teen America, which aired on Sky One in the UK on 1 March 2006.[9] In 2006, Geldof was placed at number seven in the Tatler's list of Top Ten Fashion Icons for the year, the youngest person on the list.[10] In 2007, readers of FHM voted her the 53rd sexiest woman in the world.[11]

In September 2007 Geldof made her catwalk debut modelling for PPQ at London Fashion Week. She was also announced as the face of the Australian fashion line Dotti.[12] Premiering on 19 October 2008 was Peaches: Disappear Here, a MTV One reality show in which Peaches founds a new youth-orientated magazine.[13]

In 2009 Peaches was signed to a six-figure modeling deal to become the face of the Miss Ultimo collection. Michelle Mone, the head of Ultimo underwear said at the time "Peaches was the perfect choice for this campaign. She's young, edgy with lashings of style". The collection was launched at the Debenhams department store in Oxford Street in May 2009.[14] Peaches was subsequently dropped from the Ultimo brand in March 2010 after nude pictures and allegations of drug use were posted on the Internet and published in the media. Geldof vehemently denied the claims and said, "I am disappointed that Ultimo has decided not to extend my contract based on a wildly exaggerated account of a night in Los Angeles five months ago." Mone said that "as a brand that targets young women, we feel it is impossible for Peaches to continue."[15][16]

In 2011 Geldof presented a six part series on ITV2 called, OMG with Peaches Geldof, a problem solving chat and guest show with audience participation.[17] The show received predominantly negative reviews that questioned the presenter's ability and the show's format [18][19] with persistant rumours that the show would be cancelled soon after its debut [20] and has yet to be renewed long after the final episode has been aired.

Personal life

On 5 August 2008, she married Max Drummey, an American musician from the band Chester French, at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. In a statement on 12 August 2008, the couple said they were "delighted to announce their very happy marriage."[21] They also have each other's names tattooed on their hands.[22] The couple announced on 7 February 2009 that their marriage had amicably ended.[23]

In 2009, in the ITV2 documentary Fearne and....Peaches Geldof, Peaches revealed that she was interested in and had begun following Scientology. When questioned about her father's opinion about it, Peaches said, 'My father says anything that makes me feel like a better person and makes me happy is a good thing'.[24]

In March 2010 she was reported to be dating director/writer/actor Eli Roth.[25] In November it was reported that they had split up.[26]
