MSU Interview
Dear Marasmusine,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:
* Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
* Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
* All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
* All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
* The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk)

Hi again, thanks for your help before. Thought you might be interested to know I've started a discussion at WT:VG regarding it. Cheers, Miremare 19:51, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

list of companies in albania

Hi, Maramusine. You have recently edited this wikipedia article "list of companies in Albania" removing my listing. Now, I am aware that my wikipedia is not a directory. Although the article "list of companies in albania" it looks like directory to me, now. And it lists in google like a directory. The only change is that now are listed only big corporations. My problem is that i have put a lot of efforts in adding my company in web directories (not Wikipedia, dmoz and similar), manually, and also i have worked quite some time into optimizing it for search engines, but when it comes to the keyword " list of companies in Albania" or "companies in Albania" wikipedia shadows every other directory, thus my directory submissions. You see, i know that wiki is not a directory and it was not my intention to exploit wikipedia's authority for my personal gains. The real problem is that the companies that are listed in "list of companies in Albania" are only the large ones therefore the article should be :"list of (big; large; huge; multinational; worth mentioning) companies in Albania". It is unfair that submission work in web directories (not wikipedia, i am aware that wikipedia is not a directory) goes in vain from a wikipedia list of large companies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kristr (talkcontribs) 11:36, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Tetris clones

Hello, recently I added game NullpoMino to list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Tetris_variants#Unofficial_games and you removed it. I understand Wikipedia policy about spam link, but I believe particular game is one of most noticeable tetris clones. I claim to be knowledgeable on topic of tetris clones, so if you need help in compiling list of unofficial game, I would be happy to help you. Other games I would like to see added to this list include Lockjaw, Heboris and Texmaster. Dodd (talk) 08:29, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, for your attention. I'm not sure if i should reply on my talk page or yours, so please forgive me if I make mistake. There are not many sources about tetris fan games, but this I best I can provide. I understand most of them are not reliable by Wikipedia standards, but I hope at least some of them will count as secoundary source.

http://bsixcentdouze.free.fr/tc/tgm-en/tgm.html is article about Tetris Grand Master series, it mentions Texmaster and Heboris, it dosn't mention NullpoMino, because this article is older then Nullpomino.

http://megadriver.nfshost.com/2010/09/79-las-mil-caras-de-tetris-nullpomino/ here is review of NullpoMino by spanish blogger, he also has review of texmaster.

http://www.linuxformat.ru/anons138.phtml this magazine has Nullpomino on DVD that comes with it, but i don't know if it's covered in any way in magazine itself.

http://harddrop.com/wiki/Main_Page has quite detailed entires on all games i mentioned:

Nullpomino is listed and reviewed on few websites including Softpedia, Linux Game Tome, but most of them don't provide any informations beyond what is available on NullpoMino website, and reviews if any are not very in-deep. But I can provide this kind of links if it can help anything.

http://www.abc.net.au/tv/goodgame/stories/s2698560.htm is Australian TV show episode mentioning Lockjaw

For Heboris and Texmaster is harder to find any secondary sources. I think some about Heboris may be available in Japanese, so I can look for some if you are interested.

If you can comment on sources I provided so far, that would guide me a bit about what I should be look for.

Also there is other game that may be more notable by Wikipedia criteria - nds_tgm . http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/21/japanese-homebrew-games-that-will-blow-your-mind/ here is one of articles mentioning it, but I can provide more if you wish.

Hello, please add games you think suitable. I don't have much time, but i will probably come back here when new sources are available that may interest you. NullpoMino is quite new, so there is good chance for new sources, Texmaster and Heboris are not in such good position. Let me know if you need any information about games you want to add. About Tetris The Grandmaster 3 for DS, most people (including author) call it NDS_TGM (i think it comes from file name under this game is distributed) to avoid confusion with Arika's arcade game. Actually game title screen says: NDS The Grand Master - Tetris - Terror-Instinct, but that can be also be interpreted as "Tetris - NDS The Grand Master - Terror-Instinct". I think it's reasonable to call this game just "NDS The Grand Master" or NDS_TGM. Dodd (talk) 06:48, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, great to see Lockjaw and nds_tgm added.

I asked linuxformat.ru about NullpoMino reference in their magazine, and they were kind to send me free pdf copy of this issue. There is small frame about games included on DVD, about one sentence per game, about NullpoMino they says:

и, наконец, NullpoMino, гибко настраиваемая коллекция Тетрис-образных игр с возможностью игры онлайн, так что вы можете сражаться за блоки с людьми по всему миру. После извлечения запустите ее командой java -jar NullpoMino.jar.

translation:

and, finally, NullpoMino, flexibly configurable collection of Tetris-like games with the ability to play online, so you can fight for blocks with people around the world. After extraction, run it with the command java -jar NullpoMino.jar.

Hello again, some NullpoMino gameplay videos were shown in Gamers TV Yoasobi Sanshimai show on Nippon Television.

here you can watch this part of the show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPHRNGMFpKw

will this work for secoundary source? can nullpomino be added to list now? let me know what do you think.

Hello, I made try to add it. I don't think show transcript or translation is available, but i will let you know when more information is available.

N64 emulator list

(apologies if this isn't where i should be posting the response to what you wrote on my talk page) Ubuntu, the most popular Linux distribution[1], only has one N64 emulator available in it's 'universe' repository, that being Mupen64 Plus[2]. Google Code lists the emulator's development activity as "high" [3]Thanks for fact checking! I hope the above is sufficient for verifiability. Lavid (talk) 07:19, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I have AfD'd the above article, as you're knowledgeable in the VG and particularly in flightsim, could you provide some input? Thanks. Icemotoboy (talk) 04:56, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
