GOOD Music is a record label and management firm founded by music producer Kanye West.[1][2] "GOOD" is an acronym for "Getting Out Our Dreams".
History
In West's, GLC's, and Really Doe's early recording days, all three belonged to a group The Go-Getters.[3] Although none of them have an album under the label, West releasing his own albums with Roc-A-Fella Records.
John Legend and Common were the first to have albums produced under GOOD Music and between them received seven Grammy Award Nominations. Get Lifted with three, and Be with four.[4]
Over the years there has been confusion as to what the company actually is. GLC was quoted as saying that it “isn’t a label”, but that it is “a family and like a production company.” It is still down to the artist to come to a deal with a distribution company, which will be backed by GOOD Music.[5]
An anthology, GOOD Music: The Album, is to be released in Spring of 2012,[6] after the whole GOOD Music family met up in London to finish recording the album mid January.[7]
