Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD (abbreviated THPS HD) is a skateboarding video game and the twelfth game in the Tony Hawk's series of skateboarding games. It is set for release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles as a downloadable game in 2012.

Development

The game was first announced at the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards show (VGAs) with a trailer demonstrating Tony Hawk skating around the Woodland Hills Warehouse (the first stage of the original game). It is the first Tony Hawk's game on consoles that will be offered exclusively as a downloadable game. It is a return to the gameplay of the original games in the series, predating Tony Hawk: Ride, and as such will only be played using a standard controller.

The game is not an HD porting of the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, but rather an amalgamation of levels collected from the first two installments, remade in a completely new engine for the PS3 and Xbox 360.[3] So far the only playable skaters to be confirmed are Tony Hawk, Chris Cole, Eric Koston, Nyjah Huston, Andrew Reynolds, Rodney Mullen, Lyn-z Adams Hawkins (Pastrana), and Tony's son Riley Hawk. Riley was announced playable in an interview with One Of Swords and a picture of his character was uploaded by Tony Hawk via his Instagram account.[citation needed] Besides the Warehouse from the original game being confirmed, the Mall, Phoenix, New York, Hangar, School, School 2, Marseilles, Downhill and Venice Beach have also been confirmed for the remake.[4]

Soundtrack

On March 8th, Tony Hawk mentioned in an interview with Destructoid that half of the soundtrack will contain songs from the first two Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games with the other half containing new songs.[5] The only songs confirmed for the game thus far are; You by Bad Religion (THPS2), Superman by Goldfinger (THPS1), Guerrilla Radio by Rage Against the Machine (THPS2), and Police Truck by Dead Kennedys (THPS1).
