I added the information about who did the logo and when it was introduced and taken the image from the name field and placed it alongside the information. There is further discussion about whether band logos should appear in the information box at Template talk:Infobox Musical artist.--Alf melmac 12:43, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Other genres
Ensiferum, like such bands as Wintersun has elements of many genres, not just Viking and folk metal. However, we have to decide which of there are worth mentioning. I have plenty of reliable sources saying thrash metal, power metal, melodic death metal, black metal etc. (some of which are ridiculous). I will give some of you some time to decide which would best fit and if you don't decide, I will. So far i think only melodeath is worth a mention. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 22:47, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- I think melodic death metal really should get a mention, it's clear that they started on this mostly when Petri Lindroos joined but I think they've always carried the style, although in a very different way. Saying they're power metal is just dumb, while any mention of black metal is a ridiculous/inane 'choice' for genres. Also, if theres too much upheaval over the genres "reviewer experts" chose, then I think there should be some review thing about the All Music Guide metal genre usage as a reference "crisis" and many other sites deemed unreliable in heavy metal subgenres by the masses. −₪ÇɨгcaғucɨҲ₪ kaiden 05:17, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ensiferum are not Melodeath! They're Viking and Folk metal. That's all. Look at metal-archives.com. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.169.108.106 (talk) 11:57, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- That can't be used as a source. And Ensiferum do have elements of melodic death metal, I don't care what metal-archives says. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 23:12, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ensiferum is a folk metal band. Their album art, costumes, lyrics, themes, melodies and vocals are all consistent with folk metal. They describe themslves as "Heroic Folk Metal". They are Folk Metal!!!--Jesse (talk) 10:56, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Who keeps reverting it to just folk and viking metal? It's melo death as well! Very obvious when you listen to it.JackorKnave (talk) 21:45, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
The vocals sound closer to black metal....Isn't viking metal a distant offshot of black metal anyways.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.192.177.59 (talk) 20:49, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
No. Viking Metal is a sub-genre of Folk Metal. However, the first Viking Metal album came from a Black Metal band, which is why most people get that confused.
Vocals in Death metal vary, some are high pitched, and some are low, on a minor note, the band have stated that they are melo death as well, though that counts for practically nought.JackorKnave (talk) 02:27, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, pretty all stuff i've heard of these guys thus far is definatley not power metal. They aren't black metal, either. Only element from black metal they have is shrieking singing, and as far as im concerned vocal's doesn't really make a genre. So i'm removing power metal from the genre box as they aren't really power metal nor do any reliable source state so. And allmusic is not a reliable source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.114.152.11 (talk) 16:36, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
Viking Metal should only be included on "Dragonheads" EP. That is the only song about vikings. All other material is from the Kalevala or old Finnish stories/Finnish culture/Drinking culture. Just because there are swords and shields in the album artwork does not mean it is "Viking". That's what the rest of medieval Europe used as well. Finland is *not* scandinavian and had very little contact with the Vikings during the Viking age. That being said i could see why "Melodeath" is used along with Folk Metal, but why only on their Debut? That's about as dumb as Amon Amarth only being listen as Viking Metal on a few of their albums. There wasn't really a style change between "Ensiferum" and "Iron". -E
Jari didn't leave in 2003
Jari didn't leave the band, he was kicked out because he requested time off to record a record for wintersun. This happened in 2004 as well, not 2003. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.5.59.140 (talk) 01:00, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
