The New Corinthians Stadium (Portuguese: Novo Estádio do Corinthians), also known as Itaquerão[1], Fielzão[2] and Arena Corinthians, is a proposed football stadium which will be built in Itaquera area of São Paulo, Brazil, and will replace the city owned Pacaembu Stadium as the home stadium of Corinthians. The project was first announced on August 27, 2010, by president of CBF Ricardo Teixeira, the governor of São Paulo, Alberto Goldman and the mayor of São Paulo Gilberto Kassab, with a planned opening date of 2013. The stadium is intended to have a capacity of 48,000 spectators, with 20,000 additional seats during 2014 FIFA World Cup in order to hold the opening game, which will include Brazil national football team.[3][4]

The complex is being built on a plot of 200,000 m² in the Eastern Zone of São Paulo, next to the Corinthians-Itaquera Metro Station and CPTM, which nes been since the 1980s, the grounds of the Training Center of Corinthians. Announced on August 27, 2010, the initial design of the stadium capacity to 48,000 people provided with a budget of $ 350 million. To be appointed by the Local Organizing Committee as a possible host of the opening World Cup FIFA 2014, the value of the work came to R $ 820 million to meet the technical requirements of FIFA for such an event. Construction of the stadium for Corinthians Of the R $ 820 million in the budget, $ 400 million will be financed through a loan from BNDES to be paid by the Corinthians in conjunction with the construction, the Odebrecht Group, while the remaining R $ 420 million will be paid by Development Incentive Certificates issued by the City of São Paulo. Work began officially on May 30, 2011 with the excavation, starting the foundation phase in July. On October 20 FIFA officially announced as the location for the stadium opener and other three group stage matches, one quarter-final and a semifinal. Six Cup matches will be played in Arena Corinthians. The federal government is estimated that over 82% of the fans come to the local public transportation (subway, bus and train). Video Screen

The entire eastern wall of the stadium will be a gigantic Big Screen High Definition Video Board, what will be the world's largest in 2013.
