:He is a living person so there should not be unsourced speculation about his private life. Consequently I have deleted the reference to Valerie Singleton, especially since she is also a living person. This is just tabloid gossip. We should only use what is on the public record. Someone has removed an addition to an important event in his personal life that is fully sourced and was written by him in his autobiography quoted in the main article..'Some Day Ill Forget My Trousers'-- autobiography --co author Jeremy Hornby ISBN 0-903925-31-1 London 1975
Murray ,a RADA Gold Medal Award winner (for acting) was in a successful London production in 1946 that was going to New York. The first night out,the producer of the show came into Murrays cabin and began making homosexual advances to him which Murray rejected.
The next morning Murray was summoned to the producers suite where the producer told him briefly Mr Murray ,you will never appear on the stage again in Britain nor will you ever appear in any film made in Britain
From that time until the early sixties his career consisted of being a DJ on either Radio Luxembourg or the BBC,
This comment describes an important event in this persons life, certainly important enough for him to mention it in his autobiograhy .
I can see no reason why it has been removed

To-do List:

Association with Pirate Radio

"He had previously worked on pirate radio....." i'm not sure this is true...can anyone verify it?? JXM 22:11, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't seem very likely as the Six-Five Special made him a well established pop presenter in the late 50s - some years before pirate radio was thought of. Maybe he was on Radio Luxembourg, which wasn't the same thing as pirate radio. Adrian Robson 12:46, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've eliminated the ref to pirate radio. Seems like the confusion arose because of an alternative definition of border blasters like R Lux as pirates on the pirate radio page. JXM 06:48, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Details about personal life lacking. Suggests relationship with Val Singleton and a son that died but it's all a bit hazy? —Preceding unsigned comment added by GeneralJumbo (talkcontribs) 22:31, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He is a living person so there should not be unsourced speculation about his private life. Consequently I have deleted the reference to Valerie Singleton, especially since she is also a living person. This is just tabloid gossip. We should only use what is on the public record. I've tweaked up the reference to his son. I was at school with him, and met him shortly, and by chance, days before he killed himself. There were at least 2 marriages. Sherefong 13.33, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

The Wiki article on Valerie Singleton says she was once engaged to Murray. 81.157.67.187 (talk) 09:56, 1 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Coming out?

So Murray 'came out as a Conservative Party supporter in 1983'. You mean he'd been having to hide his shameful secret until then? 81.157.67.187 (talk) 09:32, 1 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
