Wayne Lawrence Brown (born 20 August 1977 in Barking, England) is an English footballer, who last played for Bury Town.

Career

Ipswich

Brown started his career as an apprentice at Ipswich Town, making 40 league appearances for the club and scoring once against Avenir Beggen in the UEFA Cup.[1]

Watford

He had loan spells at Colchester, Queens Park Rangers and Wimbledon (where he scored once against Crewe Alexandra)[2] before leaving the club in December 2002, signing for Watford after a loan spell. Whilst at Watford he had a loan spell at Gillingham, playing four games and scoring once against Walsall,[3] before moving to Colchester United after a successful loan period.

Colchester United

He spent three seasons at Layer Road making 159 appearances and was the only outfield player to play every minute of every game in the Football League Championship in the 2006–07 season. He was voted Colchester United's Player of the Season for 2005–06. He has yet to return the supporters player-of-the-season trophy to Colchester United despite numerous requests and the club have considered taking legal action.

Hull City

Brown signed a three-year contract with Hull City on 14 July 2007 after Colchester agreed to sell him for £450,000.[4] In his first season with Hull, he helped them win promotion to the Premier League,[5] with Brown scoring once in the process against former club Ipswich.[6] On 27 October 2008, Brown joined Preston North End on loan for a month, having been found surplus to requirements at his parent club.[7]

On 30 August 2008, Brown made his Premier League debut for Hull City in a 5–0 loss against Wigan. During the game, Brown made a mistake when he allowed Zaki to score the third goal in the match.[8]

Leicester City

On 30 January 2009, Brown joined Leicester City on loan for the rest of the 2008–09 season with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer.[9] He helped the club regain promotion to the Championship as League One champions by beating Southend United 2–0 on 18 April 2009.[10] On 28 April 2009, Brown signed a two-year deal with the club for an undisclosed fee.[11] He went on to make 39 appearances in the 2009–10 season, helping Leicester concede just 45 goals and finish in the Championship playoff places.[12] On 15 May 2010, it was revealed that Brown was under investigation by the club following an alleged training ground bust-up over comments he made regarding over the outcome of the UK General Election.[13] Brown voted for the far-right British National Party.[14] On 5 July 2010 Brown had a medical at Preston North End. The next day it was revealed that Brown had left Leicester City by mutual consent.

Preston North End

It was announced on the Preston North End official website that Brown had become a Preston player following his release by mutual consent from Leicester City[15] He was joined the club along with Craig Morgan and was signed by Darren Ferguson. After Ferguson sacking, former manager Phil Brown came to his life again when he had been manager at Hull City during Brown's time there. Brown yet to make his debut for Preston because of he tore a calf muscle during pre-season training. Until on 18 September 2011 when he made his first start and played 90th minutes in a 1-0 loss against Norwich City. Brown get more picked by the manager and made just only 13 appearance for Preston. On 5 February 2011, Brown made his last appearance for the club in a 4-0 loss against Bristol City and hadn't feature since for Preston. After the end of 2010/11 season, Preston North End released him along with 5 players after been told that he wouldn't be picked by Preston boss Phil Brown.[16]

Bury Town
