Revision as of 10:02, 19 January 2013
This is the list of highest grossing films overseas only and does not take domestic gross into account. This list is unadjusted for inflation. Figures are given in US$ (United States dollar).[1][2] Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots broke My Name Is Khan's record and became the highest grossing film overseas when released in China in December 2011.[3] Bollywood films have been grossing very well since 1995,particularly in North America,U.K,Australia,North Europe and Middle East.[4][5][6][7][8][9] Apart from Bollywood films, Rajnikanth starrer 2010 released Tamil film Enthiran grossed US$ 12 million in overseas.[10] Nowadays,Bollywood films have considerable market oveseas with release in around 500-600 screens and 50-60 countries.[11][12][13][14][15][16] Overseas gross figures of Box Office India are utilised here.[17]
- Background colour indicates film is currently playing on 30 May 2024 in theatres in overseas markets
Highest-grossing Bollywood films in overseas
Since this list is not adjusted for inflation, it tends to favour films in more recent years with nearly ninety-nine percent of the films in the top 30 being released after 2000. Films released prior to 1995 do not appear in the list because inflation, population size, limited global audience of Bollywood films and ticket purchasing trends make direct comparisons inaccurate.[18][19]
