Biography
W&W, the guise of Dutch producers Wardt van der Harst and Willem van Hanegem, is considered the next big thing in EDM. As big room anthem ‘Mustang’ erupted into the clubs, so did their W&W guise in the scene. What started as a little boy’s dream, soon became reality.

The W&W adventure began when both guys discovered their love for electronic music. Finding out about this ‘different’ type of music, made them discover a whole lot more than they’d expected. A shared passion for beats and melodies is what drew these guys to a team-up in the studio. It didn’t take long before they met and decided it was time to fathom their musical chemistry in the studio. Willem:“We first met at Electro Energy 2007. We both have a huge interest in both House and Trance so we hooked up a lot. Nowadays we are very close friends, besides being studio partners. I think it was in the summer of 2007 that we decided to produce some stuff together. The first track that was finished, was ‘Mustang’.“
And what a track to finish and start their W&W career with! Addictive tech-trancer ‘Mustang’ was soon being hammered by the big DJs. Only a year after they first met, Sander van Doorn played their single ‘Mustang’ at Electro Energy 2008, making a 3 000 000 Trance lovers go nuts on their phat beats, compressed melody and mind-blowing, heavy-hitting basskicks. W&W achieved their first goal: to create a true Trance anthem. So besides growing out to close fans, they also found another spark there: ‘Mustang’. This first offspring of their talent led the way to recognition and support by today’s dance scene elite. Armin van Buuren even mentioned them as ‘the best upcoming trouse duo of the moment’.

A moment that has been going on for two years already, as the guys deliver one big track after another. Armada Music quickly snatched the guys and laid down a safe path to release their ‘Intercity’, ‘Dome’, ‘Arena’ and ‘The Plan’, all masterpieces of their own kind. However, there’s always been one compromise and that is the unique blend of Trance, Electro and House music. It’s got to have the W&W sound. W&W hasn’t delivered bangers of tracks, but also introduced their unique, typical sound. Willem and Wardt both define it as ‘big room trance with a techy edge’. W&W: “We always try to bring that big room feeling in our records with massive lead sounds, catchy melodies and tough beats.“ To prevent it from getting a bit of a trick, the guys try to use a different approach on every track, without losing their W&W sound. W&W: “When you compare ‘Mustang’ to ‘Arena’, they both have a catchy hook, but it’s a totally different style. ‘Mustang’ has the rolling beats and basslines. ’Arena’ is very minimalistic, with very little percussion and no rolling basses, but it still has the specific W&W sound.” Their sound isn’t only appreciated by dance lovers, but is being praised to by the big names as well.

Future is definitely looking bright for these two Dutchies. And for those that can’t get enough of them, there’s a lot to look forward to. 2009 brings them a new chapter. From this year on, W&W dj’s together, and plans to continue walking down the path of success they’ve already started to follow. As you can see, young boys grow up fast.

In 2010, Armin van Buuren said: “W&W are truly the rising stars of Trance. If I have to put my money on somebody, I put it on W&W(Willem & Wardt).” They have also remixed songs of a number of musicians including Aly & Fila, Sean Tyas, Dash Berlin and Orjan Nilsen

Biography

In 2010, Armin van Buuren said: “W&W are truly the rising stars of Trance. If I have to put my money on somebody, I put it on W&W(Willem & Wardt).” They have also remixed songs of a number of musicians including Aly & Fila, Sean Tyas, Dash Berlin and Orjan Nilsen

In September 2011, they released their debut album Impact on Armada Music.[1] The album featured a number of collaborations with other artists and included some of their previously released singles. Following the success of the album, they were given their own sub-label of Armada Music called Mainstage Music. In 2012, the duo released their first compilation on the label called, Mainstage Music Volume 1.[2] Their track "Invasion" was chosen as the official anthem of episode 550 of A State of Trance (often shortened by the listeners with ASOT). However, creating new sounds and styles in their music W&W deviated from producing trance to the production of progressive house and electro (Lift Off!, The Code, etc., ...)[3]
