Fearnes Coaches

In 1916 William Fearne and William Borlase commenced business as general carriers and charter bus operators in Wagga Wagga. Borlase pulled out of the partnership in the early 1920s with Fearne carrying on alone. In 1929 the first timetabled service commenced between Turvey Park and Docker Street and was later extended to North Wagga Wagga Clive Fearne bought the company in 1937 and remained as managing director until his death in 1989. The business was then passed down to his son Garry. After his death in 1996 it was run by his wife Audrey.[1]

In 1988 it an express service to Sydney commenced and in 1998 to Melbourne.[1][2] Fearne's also have operated a number of CountryLink contracts since 1990.

Sale to Busabout

In December 2008 Fearne's Coaches was sold to Joe and Tony Calabro. The Calabros owned Busabout and Hawkesbury Valley in Sydney as well as the Transit Australia Group in Queensland. It was rebranded as Busabout Wagga with the same white, green and yellow as carried by the Busabout fleet in Sydney.[3]

Fleet

As at April 2013 it operated 62 buses and coaches.[4] Since taking over in December 2008, the Calabros have replaced over half the fleet with a combination of buses transferred from Sydney, second-hand purchases, notably Volvo B10Ms from Reservoir Bus Company, and some new Bustech bodied Volvo B7Rs.
